Flings on the Fourth?
Single for the summer? Loving it some days, but hating it others? That is totally normal. The whole point of summer is for adventure and thrill seeking. You have more than enough time to find someone serious ahead of cuffing season.
Instead, use this time to have fun. Instead of looking for your future spouse, look for a fling. This can be a one-night stand or something that lasts a few months with no real longevity in sight. But it doesn’t matter, because you are living in the moment and enjoying it while it lasts.
How are you going to find your fling this Fourth? Luckily, you have plenty of options. For starters, nearly every bar in the city will have drink specials celebrating the day. Check out the top happy hours and mingle with all the singles in the district.
If the bar scene isn’t for you, use this Independence Day as an excuse to take a hike — literally! Gather a group of friends and enjoy the day outdoors. You will be sure to run into fellow outdoorsy types and bound through the heat together. You can also look into tubing or taking a dive into the Potomac if the weather holds up.
Bored at home with no plans? Turn to dating apps to pass the time. Exchange corny pick-up lines and see if you match with anyone and feel instant “fireworks.” Who knows, you may be asked out on a same-day date to go into the city and watch the fireworks. Or better yet, take initiative and ask someone out. Worse case, it goes terribly, and you get free drinks and a ride to the fireworks. Best case, you see fireworks together and experience them later that night too. The 50/50 chance is worth it if you are up to it.
Lastly, you can take advantage of the holiday by heading to the beach. Check out the views both of the ocean and the beach babes.
This holiday is all about balancing relaxation and party. Whatever you prefer, enjoy the holiday being single. Hook up with a random person if you want, or screw it and live your best single life with just you and friends or family. If a beautiful stranger comes through, great. If not, there is still plenty of booze, barbecue and music to ensure an awesome holiday. Happy Fourth to all you singles out there in the DMV!
