Your Spring/Summer Accessories Hot List

It is time to bundle up those faux fur scarves and bobble hats. Winter is on its way out, and it is time to discover the hottest accessory trends for spring and summer. If you are a fan of accessorizing, and you are keen to keep up with the fash pack, here are some key investments for the months ahead:

Spring/summer bags

This season’s bags are all about eye-catching novelty designs and bright colors. Think cobalt blue, cloud prints, florals and bold stripes. If you are a fan of using a bag to make a statement, this year’s crop of catwalk looks won’t disappoint. Badges, pins and patches are also big news, so if you are handy with a glue gun or a needle and thread, customize existing items in your collection to bring them up to speed.

The miniature bag is also making waves. Think tiny box clutches big enough to hold a few dollar bills and your phone, and scaled-down versions of autumn/winter’s leather backpack. Smaller cross-body bags are great for daytime, especially if you tend to be weighed down by a tote or shopper full of stuff you don’t need.

Spotlight on jewelry

This season, bringing the bling is all about dressing your neck and ears. Oversized, statement earrings, dangling crystals and embellished collars are all the rage. Drop earrings work brilliantly with high necks, so add a pair of chandelier earrings to a 60s style LBD for evening glamor. During the day, add an eye-catching ear cuff to toughen up a feminine blouse and team with skinny jeans and patent loafers. With so much going on above the neck, avoid going crazy with rings, bangles and bracelets. Keeping it simple will showcase diamond engagement rings or bespoke wedding bands in all their glory and draw the attention to the face and neck. Don’t worry too much about paying attention to the finer details. Numerous designers featured mismatched earrings, rather than a pair, on the catwalk.

The spring/summer shoe

This spring and summer, you can choose from comfortable, masculine styles or go ultra-girly with pastel pinks, embroidered pumps and retro pieces. Sliders are enjoying another season in the spotlight, and they are a great addition to a pair of mom jeans and a basic cropped tee for simple off-duty chic. If you are after something a little more feminine, opt for printed, metallic or pastel mules or flatforms. Ankle straps and ribbons are also hitting the headlines. Choose from delicately strapped ballet shoes or more robust gladiator sandals. If you want to kill two birds with one stone, look out for flatform styles with detailing around the ankle. For those of you who find it difficult to balance on skyscraper heels, the return of the kitten heel may be welcome news.

Spring and summer are coming, and it is time to update your wardrobe, try out new looks and embrace some fresh new trends. If you are eager to overhaul your accessories collection, hopefully, these ideas have given you some inspiration. Don’t be afraid to mix and match and to customize the trends to suit your style and fit in with your wardrobe.
