Resolve to Be Healthy in 2022
Make your resolutions starting now. As we have seen in the past few years, there are many benefits to living a healthy lifestyle and focusing on health. For women, who are more likely to die of things like heart disease and cancer, focusing on lifestyle changes can mean the difference between life and death. Your health is more than just losing a few pounds and cutting back on eating sugar. There are mental, physical and emotional health needs that women have that are often overlooked. If you aren’t sure where to start with your health, here are some of the top things to focus on.
Sexual health
Ladies, your sexual health matters. Women going into menopause may experience mood swings, lack of sex drive and so much more. Sexual activity may become painful, and this can cause a lot of troubles, especially in relationships. Additionally, women who are in a variety of different relationships need to ensure they are with partners who are free of disease. And in the event you can’t verify, it is important to get STD tests regularly to ensure you are healthy. Women also need regular pap smears and to assess for early signs of cancer.
Hormonal health
Hormones regulate everything. Whether you want to lose weight, sleep better, have more energy during the day or enjoy a vibrant sex life, you need hormones that are balanced. If you are experiencing mood swings, exhaustion, trouble sleeping and even hair loss, you need to get those hormone levels checked. This can give you critical information about your health.
Physical health
Are you a couch potato? While it could be because of painful joints or exhaustion, the truth is that your physical health matters. You need to go to annual checkups, especially if you are struggling with your physical health. It is important to be active by taking at least 5,000 steps a day. Some experts say that you need 10,000 steps or more a day to lose weight and maintain it. You should be eating healthy — whole foods as much as possible. You should be spending less time on social media and in front of the TV.
Mental and emotional health
Are you one of those women who puts off getting help when you feel overwhelmed or sad? It is okay to not be okay. And one of the things you need to do regularly is focus on your mental and emotional health. For some people, a few hours of the week to themselves is enough to keep their health in good condition. For others, you might need some one-on-one counseling. It is important that women who are experiencing depression or anxiety after giving birth seek out treatment. There are some early signs of PPD that you might miss if you put off caring for your mental and emotional health.
Relationship and marriage health
How are your relationships with others? Is your marriage strained? Do you find yourself arguing with friends? Another aspect of health to consider is your relationships with others. If your relationships are strained it can make you more moody, irritable and stressed. By working through challenges, you will discover that feel more confident in your relationship, are better able to handle issues and that your relationship is strengthened in the end.
Career health
This is a thing. How is your career? Are you doing something you enjoy or do you dread going to work? Do you have opportunities to grow or are you stuck in a low-paying position? There are many ways to improve your resume but getting the most out of your career starts with you. You need to recognize if your workplace is healthy or not and decide what you are going to do about it. As a woman, if you work hard and have the credentials, you deserve a role that pays well with employers who treat you well. There is no need to stay in a toxic work environment. Find a new job as fast as you can and get out.
Parental health
Parenting is not for the faint of heart. Are you able to show up and be the mother you want to be with your children? Are you struggling to connect with your kids? Maybe they are having challenges in school. There are plenty of resources available to help you parent kids through tough times. And if things get unmanageable, it is okay to get professional help through family counseling and therapy.
