Unwind and Relax with a Soak in Bath Salts
I have had a very stressful past couple of weeks. My body ached and my mind was not well rested; my skin had a lot of toxins trapped in it since I stopped my daily regimen of using my favorite products to keep it hydrated and free of environmental stressors. When life gets in the way, one’s routine can go haywire, and you get completely off track. It is hard to know where to start back up again cause it can be overwhelming.
When I received Bath Soaks from The Spice Lab, it could not have come at a better time. A relaxing bath was bound to be what I needed to get my life back on track — life in the DMV is fast faced when it comes to your relationships, career and personal life, so having your go-to products that can help you slow down every once in a while is a very good thing to have.
The Bath Soaks will be a part of my go-to products since they actually work. They provide relief from mental stressors and body aches. This lasted a few hours after the bath. I used the Dead Sea Salt Bath Soak which, has salt from the Dead Sea in it. The Dead Sea is located between Israel and Jordan and is around 1,300 feet below sea level, which makes it the lowest body of water in the world. Because of this, it is known for having healing properties because the salt is rich in magnesium, calcium, potassium and bromide. All these ingredients relax and replenish your body’s natural minerals. You can actually experience a glimpse of what bathing in the Dead Sea would be like — if that is not enough to calm your inner anxieties from stressful days, then I do not know what would really help, because my bath was everything I imagined it would be.
Use 1 cup for a soothing bath experience, but you can use 2-4 cups for a detoxification bath; this will give you the maximum healing benefits. I used 3 cups and felt as if I was in a sauna with my pores opening up as soon as I stepped into the bath and all the toxins were being expelled.
The bath water should be between 98-100 degrees Fahrenheit as it says on the bottle for the most rejuvenating experience. I was sweating, yet had a relaxed heart rate and took in the smell of ocean waters. My lips tasted salty, but they were as soft as a baby’s skin. I then started to feel my shoulders, arms, back to my face, and skin was equally as soft as my lips. I was shocked that my skin was getting moisturizing benefits as wells, since salt is typically drying. I later realized that my skin was getting moisturized due to the high amounts of potassium in the salt, which helps cell membranes maintain the right amount of water balance to renew and grow.
When I got out of the bath, I put on a robe and stayed in the bathroom for a good 15 to 20 minutes to keep absorbing the ocean smells that were evaporating all around me. I still had muscle tension, but this could be because I have fibromyalgia on top of my everyday stressors. I cannot say that it did much for my aches, although it did loosen my muscles, which would likely relieve aches for the average person. Perhaps using it more frequently would aid to keep loosening my muscles.
The bath was relaxing, rejuvenating and calmed my mind, and made my skin extremely soft. All the memories of being stuck in traffic along with the past week’s haphazards were all but a distant memory. When I closed my eyes, I truly envisioned myself being in the Dead Sea. The salts where that potent and actually worked (compared to magnesium-only bath salts that I have used before), so I cannot wait to use them again.
The salts come in many different types of bath soaks from Himalayan pink salt with lavender to lemon citrus and pina colada green tea.
