Is Food the Key to the Someone’s Heart?

When you are torn about what to do for a date, food is always a good default. Who doesn’t love grabbing a bite to eat? However, sometimes the biggest problem is not deciding what to eat, but rather where to eat.

I am that the person in a relationship who takes forever to make a decision on where to go — especially if it involves food. There are just too many choices! Are you in the mood for somewhere with Instagram-worthy food or someplace that is totally filling? Or maybe somewhere with food that is sweet and savory or hot and spicy? Really there are too many factors to take in.

So what do you do if you find yourself in this sticky situation? Here are a few ways you and your date can breakdown what you are in the mood for and where to get it:

Classy sit down

Pro: Sit down dinners are a fun excuse to dress up. They make any regular day feel like a special occasion. Plus, it is a great time to splurge and treat yourself. So as long as it is in your budget, go out for an anniversary or just because a new swanky place has a grand opening.

Con: You have to be in the mood for a sit down dinner. Sometimes they can feel a little stuffy, which can put you in an off mood and potentially ruin the night. So if you would rather just kick back and don’t feel like getting dressed up, I’d suggest picking a more casual dine-in experience instead of something fancy. Plus, if you don’t have the budget to spend, don’t dig yourself deeper into debt and opt for a cheaper meal for now.

Comfy home cooking

Pro: Set the mood and be romantic by cooking up something yourself this date night. For one, this will more likely end up being much cheaper than racking up a bill going out. Secondly, you can customize the dinner however you like. You can light some scented candles and watch a movie on the couch at the same time. Cooking at home is truly the best idea for a laid back night in.

Con: The clean up. That is the main con. After eating, all you want to do is relax. But if you wait to clean, you will only regret it later when everything is a mess. So it is best tot get it over with. Try to make it cute and offer to wash while your date dries or puts everything away when it is done.

Speedy fast food

Pro: The ultimate lazy choice, but let’s face it, we all go down this road every now and then. It is quick and does the job. If you and your date are comfortable enough around each other, don’t be ashamed of jumping in the drive-thru line and binging on Taco Bell.

Con: It is not exactly the healthiest option. It is okay every now and then. But if fast food becomes a regular date spot for you, that is kind of ratchet.

Everyone loves food. Healthy, not healthy, expensive or cheap, whatever the case may be. Deciding what to eat with a date can be tough, but you ultimately can’t go wrong. Pick something you are both in the mood for, and you are guaranteed a good time.
