Treat Mom to Brunch for Mother’s Day
It’s Mother’s Day weekend and that means Sunday brunch or dinner with Mom. Here is a list of restaurants offering Mother’s Day specials on Sunday. Reservations are recommended.
1789 Restaurant
1789 Restaurant, 1226 36th St. NW, will be dishing up an a la carte brunch from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The first and main courses are included in the main course price, which ranges from $30-$50. An a la carte dinner will be served from 5:30 p.m.-10 p.m. Brunch will include dishes such as duck strudel a l’orange, asparagus and sherried mushroom salad and chilled spring pea soup. Main course selections feature ham, pain perdue, shrimp and grits and duck cassoulet. Dessert options include strawberry shortcake, chocolate mousse bomb, or the almond crème brûlée.
701 Restaurant
701 Restaurant, 701 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, will have a special brunch with live jazz and outdoor seating overlooking the Navy Memorial fountains. The Mother’s Day brunch will feature a prix fixe, three-course menu served from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and dinner from 5-9:30 p.m. for $55 per person and $27.50 for children 12 and under. Dishes include Maryland crab cake, beer parfait, poached cod, suckling pig confit with rice grits and butter poached lobster with quinoa risotto. Dessert includes strawberry shortcake with vanilla crumble, caramelized rice pudding tart, Black Forest tart or stone fruit crisp.
Ambar
Ambar, 523 8th St. SE, will offer a fixed price brunch of unlimited small plates and free-flowing cocktails from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Priced at $39 per person guests can enjoy an unlimited mezze, soups, salads, sandwiches, egg dishes, pastries, crepes and sweets along with five distinctive brunch cocktails.
Arcuri
Arcuri, 2400 Wisconsin Ave. NW, will offer a three-course, prix fixe menu from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. for $30 per person. The menu includes the choice of two courses from the featured menu, along with unlimited mimosas for the table. Guests are limited to a two-hour dining window.
Ardeo+Bardeo
Ardeo+Bardeo, 3311 Connecticut Ave. NW, will serve a three-course brunch priced at $39 per person, $53 for bottomless Champagne or mimosas or $19 for children 10 and under. Brunch will be served from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Bibiana Osteria-Enoteca
Bibiana Osteria-Enoteca, 1100 New York Ave. NW, will celebrate with specials, which will be available in addition to their regular a la carte lunch and dinner menus. Dishes include carciofi, crostini, cavatelli alla ricotta with asparagus, capesante and anatra. Lunch is served from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and dinner from 5-9:30 p.m.
Blue Duck Tavern
Blue Duck Tavern, located on the corner of 24th and M Streets NW, will serve all-day brunch from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. priced at $110 for adults and $55 for children between 6 and 12. The three-course, fixed-price menu begins with a choice of starters, including seasonal salads, meats, breads and cheeses on display throughout the open kitchen. Next, guests will have a choice of entrée and sides from the holiday menu.
Bombay Club
The Bombay Club, 815 Connecticut Ave. NW, will prepare a three-course, prix fixe from 11 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. for $35 per person or $45 per person with unlimited Champagne. Dishes include crispy kale chat, bhalla papdi chat, Bombay sev puri, chicken pista korma, shrimp chettinad, and lamb palak. For dessert there will be sticky toffee pudding, gulab jamun and green cardamom kheer.
Central
Moms just want to have fun, and Central’s Sunday brunch with bottomless Bloody Marys, bellinis, mimosas and exclusive bubbly specials hit the spot. Central, 1001 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, will have extended brunch hours from 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and will open for dinner from 5-9:30 p.m. Toast Mom with 25 percent off all Champagnes and sparkling wines by the bottle or glass. In addition to the its $27 prix fixe brunch menu, Mom can add a special crab cake benedict for an extra $15
City Tap House
City Tap House, 901 9th St. NW, will celebrate with specials from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Specials include white asparagus with crispy Benton’s ham, pecans and flamande egg sauce; spruce smoked steelhead salmon salad with roasted sweet potato, Boston bibb lettuce, pickled shallots and a sherry-crème fraîche vinaigrette; and creamy chicken crêpe with Benton’s ham, wild mushroom and fontina cheese served with a Mache lettuce salad. Brunch prices range from $12 to $16. There will also be a complimentary dessert buffet featuring chocolate fondue with fresh fruit and marshmallows, and a selection of cookies and pastries. Mothers will receive fresh flowers.
Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar
Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar, 801 9th St. NW, is serving a special brunch menu. Select three brunch tapas along with a basket of house-baked pastries for the table. Brunch is $24 per person. Some dishes include chorizo and potato omelet, one-eyed ropa vieja hash, panqueques, corn meal pancakes and crispy bacon, crab cake benedict croquette, ceviche mixto and a lobster empanada. Bottomless morning cocktails such as classic mimosas, mimosa rojo with cava and lychee mimosa can be added for $16 per person. Brunch will be served from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
El Centro D.F.
El Centro D.F., 1819 14th St. NW and and 1218 Wisconsin Ave. NW, will be serving up its bottomless authentic Mexican brunch from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. for $35. Moms can enjoy an endless selection of dishes along with bottomless brunch drinks such as the mimosa, Michelada, Bloody Maria, El Centro margarita and seasonal aqua fresca cocktails. All mothers will receive a complimentary glass of sparkling wine.
Et Voila!
Et Voila!, 5120 MacArthur Blvd. NW, will showcase specials in addition to the seasonal brunch and dinner menus from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m and 4:30 p.m.-10 p.m. respectively. Menu items include the lobster pot pie; vitello tonnato with English pea coulis and an emulsion of tuna, asparagus and porcini risotto, lobster burger, lamb T-bone steak and framboisier priced from $12-$32. Desserts include the house-made chocolate box filled with assorted chocolates priced at $21. Featured bottomless cocktails are available for $9.
Georgia Brown’s
Georgia Brown’s, 950 15th St. NW, will showcase upscale twists on Southern classics from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. for $40.95 for adults and $21.95 for children between 5 and 12. Guests will have a choice of entrées from the holiday menu such as Carolina gumbo with andouille sausage, chicken, shrimp and vegetable stew topped with Carolina red rice; Southern buttermilk fried chicken with mashed potatoes, braised collard greens and pan gravy; fried cornmeal crusted catfish with Carolina red rice, collard greens and lemon-cayenne mayonnaise; and shrimp and grits with andouille sausage. Breakfast cocktails are $12 each and bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary’s are an additional $25 per person.
Lupo Verde
Lupo Verde, 1401 T St. NW, will celebrate with specials in addition to their regular a la carte brunch menu from 10:30 a.m.-11 p.m. Specials include tartare di salmone,, carpaccio di cucumber, spaghetti di opera gragnano and ananas alla griglia, grilled pineapple with rosemary, blueberry ice cream and Mandarinetto jelly. Specials are priced from $10-$22 each. Brunch cocktails are priced at $12 each. The restaurant will offer special stroller parking.
Mango Tree
Mango Tree, 929 H St. NW, will offer traditional English breakfast fare with a Thai twist from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. priced from $8-$16 each. Dishes include lobster salad with glass noodles and yum dressing; Thai-English Breakfast with northern-style Thai sausage, crispy bacon, two wok fried eggs, hash browns, grilled Portobello mushroom, grilled tomato and fried bread; oven-baked blueberry French toast; Maine lobster with yellow curry sauce or simple kaffir-lime butter; and chocolate pancakes. Moms will enjoy a complimentary chocolate chili mousse with coffee gel, berry gel, ginger meringue and brownie crumbles.and a complimentary glass of sparkling wine.
Masa 14
Masa 14, 1825 14th St. NW, will serve its colorful Latin-Asian cuisine to brunch-goers. A prix fixe menu will be available in the main dining room from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and is priced $39. It includes an unlimited selection of brunch drinks full of seasonal flavor such as the traditional mimosa, Masa mimosa, lychee bellini, Bloody Mary, bacon Bloody Mary and lemon lager. Brunch can also be ordered a la carte from $4-$13 per dish.
Mio Restaurant
Mio Restaurant, 1110 Vermont Ave. NW, will offer an a la carte brunch menu showcasing the best of Puerto Rico inspired cuisine from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Prices range from $6-$26 each.
Nage Bistro
Nage Bistro, 1600 Rhode Island Ave. NW, will serve classic American brunch fare from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. with prices ranging from $7-$18. Dishes include the kill it skillet, beignets, banana waffle with bourbon caramel, baked avocado huevos rancheros, Chesapeake crab quiche, shrimp and grits and red velvet pancakes with spiced orange maple syrup. Enjoy bottomless Bloody Mary’s and mimosas for an additional $15 per person.
Nopa Kitchen + Bar
From 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Nopa Kitchen + Bar, 800 F St. NW, will showcase garden fresh vegetables, select meats and fish prepared with a touch of Southern influence such as duck liver mousse with strawberry jam, crispy West Coast oysters, house-made andouille sausage with Carolina gold rice, crispy soft shell crab benedict, lobster roll, mild fed porcelet with black garlic grits and veal sweetbreads. Dessert choices include cardamom and Szechuan pepper crumb cake, lime bar and Berliners. Prices range from $12-$27 each.
Old Town Pour House
Guests at Old Town Pour House, 212 Ellington Blvd., Gaithersburg, can sip on a flight of creative mimosas including the classic with orange juice and Champagne, four berry with a four-berry syrup and Champagne, rosemary grapefruit with rosemary and grapefruit purée and Champagne, and summer melon with a blended melon assortment and Champagne.
The Oval Room
The Oval Room, 800 Connecticut Ave. NW, will be showcasing spring flavors with a prix fixe three-course menu from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. priced at $55 per person. Dishes include chilled cucumber soup, citrus-cured salmon, burrata, miso marinated Japanese eggplant, rockfish and pan roasted duck. Dessert options include frozen local strawberry soufflé, ricotta bombolonim chocolate mousse and carrot cake. A new cocktail called Aerheart’s Envy will be introduced for $12. It will be featured during May in celebration of Mother’s Day. It is made with gin, cava, lemon and a syrup of lavender and thyme and Crème Yvette.
Station 4
Station 4, located in the Southwest Waterfront at 1101 4th St. SW, will celebrate with a three-course tasting menu from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. devoted to Mom including crudo of tuna salad with watermelon, watercress, rice cake and ponzu; homemade lamb sausage with couscous and smoked yogurt; ricotta and corn tortellini with homemade pasta, roasted tomato sauce, anchovy sauce and parmesan cheese; grilled Mediterranean branzino with grilled fennel and charred lemon, as well as a boneless leg of lamb served with fresh cherries, savoy cabbage and braised potatoes. For the perfect ending, guests can select the trio of sorbets or profiteroles au chocolate with French vanilla gelato.
Toro Toro
Toro Toro, 1300 I St. NW, will offer brunch service from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. for $39. The meal begins with a choice of Pan-Latin small plates that showcase South and Central American cuisine, including seasonal salads, meats, a raw bar and assorted breads and cheeses. Then diners can enjoy Toro Toro’s “Rodizio Grill” with choices that include picanha steak, chorizo, achiote chicken or chef’s daily selection. Guests can also order from the chef’s daily creation of hot sides. The restaurant also offers a Bloody Mary bar, where guests can create their own cocktail by selecting from a list of premium spirits, house-made mixers and large collection of hot sauces and garnishes. All mothers will receive a free glass of sparkling wine.
Zengo
Zengo, 781 7th St. NW, will offer its bottomless brunch from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Priced at $39 per person and $10 per child under 10, guests can enjoy an all-you-can-eat selection of ceviche, sushi, and salads, dim sum and antojitos, and brunch plates along with seven distinctive brunch cocktails.
