Food Day

Hey! DC folk! Sunday, Oct. 20, kicks off Food Day events throughout the District. Don’t know what Food Day is?  A national celebration of healthy food and a sustainable food system. There are festivals and panel discussions and food events going on each day of the week, and I suggest you look at them here.

Apple butter

Creamy, sweet, apple butter. The perfect fall spread. Check out Tait’s Apple Butter at Smucker Farms Market on 14th Street NW.

The First Lady

Michelle Obama giving food marketing agencies a run for their money.  This speech is GOOD.

Drive in movies

Drive in movies at Union Market: Every Friday, dinner, market, ice cream or beer, heaven?

Quito Keeto

Quito Keeto is a personal favorite online shop. Heidi Swanson, the incredible writer behind 101 Cookbooks features an online kitchen/houseware shop with goods from her travels and finds. Supplies are limited but oh so beautiful.

Unearthed food column

The Washington Post’s new Unearthed food column, with attention to food policy issues — it’s about time!

Happy Fall, everybody.
