Staying mentally and spiritually positive during hard times in your life can be tough. Hanging on to the positive when our emotions are struggling with the influence of our environment can add to those hard times. The key is to remain on that positive path and surround yourself with people who genuinely care for you!
A few life events have caused me to write this article. My most recent life-changing event involves my husband who is currently deployed in the desert for a one-year tour. His absents in my life have caused me to really understand how much I need him. The need of our partnership and his loving touch, his smile and sense of humor. Not to mention, and most importantly the fact that he is probably the only one who really gets me. He has been gone for two months and I must say they have been the toughest two months of my life! I try to find comfort in my make-up artistry and my social media posts used to help others and past the time but nothing will ever replace his presence. I know this now! I can only focus on the positive energy and step back to keep my mind, body and soul on the right mental and spiritual track.
Although this commitment can and will take time…this unfortunately is all I have. I not only plan to follow my own post but to include working out and eating healthy in order to achieve the body I have always wanted. Time to take care of me!
So, if there is something you are struggling with in your life this article is for you! Here are a few tips to help you be strong, happy and positive.
Positivity begins within – You must love yourself first! How you see yourself will affect everything. If you feel positive you will exude positive emotions. Think about why you enjoy a particular person’s company. Often they are funny, outgoing, kind or make you feel happy. Notice all of these are positive feelings. Having a great attitude is contagious and infectious. I have read, when you are mentally, emotionally and spiritually well, you then have the energy to make a positive difference. Let positivity be the cornerstone of your intentions, values and aspirations.
Seek the positive – When life sticks you with an unfortunate situation it should be your mission to seek the positive side and learn from the experience. Naturally you may feel upset or angry. At that moment you must change your mood to reflect how you’d like to feel. Stop, breath and focus on a positive outlook.
Express gratitude – I am firm believer of expressing gratitude. To everyone! No matter how many times my waiter brings me a napkin, drinks or whatever, I am grateful. No matter how many times my husband tells me he loves me… I say thank you! Expressing gratitude is a great way to turn your negative mood into a positive one. Writing a list of things you’re grateful for keeps your spirit up and your focus on the right things. Doing things that help others also brings feelings of joy and accomplishment. Making someone else feel good often makes us feel just as good.
Get out and experience life – ?I love to travel! Who doesn’t? You don’t have to go far to experience new places. Leaving your comfort zone forces you to feel, learn, and experience new things. A nearby city or local park are attractions that don’t require a lot of time or money. One of my favorite things to do is go on picnics. By shaking up your normal routine, you give yourself a much-deserved break from daily life and an opportunity for your mind to explore new sights and sounds. Any chance to see and think about fresh, interesting things is a positive.
Do something you love – Everyone has that one thing that makes them feel accomplished, happy and fulfilled. A hobby, sport, or passions that puts a smile on your face and makes all your worries seem to disappear. Focusing your attention on what you love helps keep your optimism and positivity alive. Passion cultivates joy and satisfaction—positive emotions that lead to happiness!
Stay happy, be healthy, take care of you and the rest will follow!
