Eye Makeup Tips for Glasses Wearers

Many women think eyeglasses are a liability in terms of style and beauty. They aren’t just difficult to style with, a lot of eye makeup trends don’t look their best with glasses. Now, you might be thinking that perhaps a pair of contact lenses could solve the problem.

While that may be true, you may also be missing out on the fun possibilities of makeup, even with glasses. When done right, eyeglasses can actually accentuate the eyes. They draw attention to your eyes without the extra effort — something even simple eye makeup cannot do.

The key is to treat your glasses as if they were a part of your face. Ignoring their presence altogether is just like buying the wrong shade of concealer: a big mistake. Make decisions based on the type of glasses you have and work changes into your basic routine.

Just because you need a pair of glasses does not mean that you cannot enjoy wearing makeup like everyone else. All you need are a few tricks to make it work for you and your glasses. Here are some tips you may want to try out during your makeup routine:

1. Groom your eyebrows

Your eyebrows are responsible for framing your face. This is why many experts say it is important to keep them groomed. And with glasses on, they become even more noticeable to others as they are easily located near the eyes. It is said that one can get away with minimal makeup as long as they have groomed brows. Apart from shaping your brows, you may want to see how you can achieve fuller and healthier looking eyebrows that will look amazing with your glasses on.

2. Opt for brighter lids

Think of your glasses as if they were magnifying glasses; they highlight even the tiniest of details. One of the worst things to accentuate are dark circles and shadows on the face. They make you look tired and unkempt. For an easy fix, use a light and neutral shade to conceal. It is also recommended to use shimmery eye makeup to brighten the eyes. Brightening your eyes also gives off the illusion of having bigger eyes as well.

3. Use eyeshadow to enhance your eye color

The best thing about wearing eyeglasses is the fact that they draw much attention to the eyes. A lot of eye makeup trends focus on a dramatic eye look, but having glasses on may make it seem a little over the top. To solve this problem, use the appropriate eyeshadow. The trick is to manipulate the eyeshadow into enhancing your eye color. Wearing glasses is all about embracing what you have got. And if what you have gorgeous looking eyes, accentuate them by learning how to make the right eyeshadow more pigmented.

4. Use a setting powder

Perhaps one of the biggest problems regarding wearing eyeglasses while having makeup on is the fact that the makeup gets all over the glasses — especially on the bridge of the nose. Invest in a good quality setting powder to avoid this messy situation. A setting powder does not only prolong your makeup, it keeps it in place without smudging despite the many times your eyeglasses slide down your nose and the number of times you slide them back up again.

Embrace what you have

Many people have the misconception that makeup is all about hiding imperfections. On the contrary, it should be about highlighting our best features while learning to accept the many things that make us unique — even as an eyeglass wearer.
