Lipstick that Keeps Your Lips Moisturized

Would you like to be DC on Heels next beauty writer? We have an opening. Please send your resume, two writing samples and a note about why you want the position to our editor-in-chief.

My lips are always chapped in the winter. It actually becomes a problem when I apply lipstick for an event and then the peeling of my lips doesn’t allow for the lipstick to go on smoothly or to even look good at all. I end up peeling off my lipstick and applying plain old clear chapstick to soothe and cool my red irritated lips.

Well, The Organic Skin Co. has created just what I didn’t even know I needed. A lipstick that is made with 71 percent organic ingredients so you feel great using it, but also moisturizes your chapped lips while giving you color that lasts and lasts.

The lipstick comes in 12 colors and retails for $34.50. Two of my favorites are Galaxy and Wysteria. These two colors are hot for winter, but are also “cool” because they seem to last for hours while keeping the peeling of my lips at bay.

The Lip Service lipstick line is made with calendula, rosemary extracts and other nourishing ingredients to help color stay on but to keep your lips hydrated at the same time.

Galaxy is actually one of my favorite colors to wear during winter because of its boldness. (Photo: The Organic Skin Co.)

You would think that the lipstick would prove to be oily then right? Well, wrong. Surprisingly these lipsticks go on smooth, but as you smack your lips together to blend out the color the lipstick starts to stick to your lips, and doesn’t give off a super shiny look. A shiny look is nice if that is what you are going for, but it is hard to find a matte lipstick that also moisturizes. I would say that this lipstick line dries 70 percent matte and 30 percent shiny, so it really is the right lipstick for those who want color and a hydrating balm that can be pulled off as a matte.

Be sure to check out other lines from this skincare company, such as their glosses and blushes. They are cruelty-free, which should make you feel great about supporting companies like that as well.
