Area Doctors Offer Treatments of the Stars
DC Derm Docs, 1828 L St. NW, Suite 850, specializes in cosmetic dermatology and offers treatment of the stars that local TV and radio personalities might turn to. I recently spoke with Dr. Dale Isaacson and got the inside scoop on he and Dr. Marilyn Berzin do there.
Some of the most popular procedures are SculpSure, ILP photo revjuvenation and dilute steroid injections, according to Isaacson.
SculpSure is a procedure that melts body fat by applying thermal, laser energy to a specific area. You do not have to wear a bodysuit, it is pain free and the melted fat is naturally removed by your body leaving the areas taut and firm, Isaacson said. It also helps stimulate collagen production.
“One treatment can remove up to 25 percent of fat. Treatment takes 25 minutes per area. You can treat multiple areas at once,” Isaacson said in an email. “Results are permanent and visible after just one treatment, however depending upon desired goals may take multiple treatments. Results are typically visible within six to 12 weeks.”
IPL photo rejuvenation helps to even out skin tone and take away redness caused by aging or acne scars, Issacson explained. It does not remove the depth from the acne scar, but it does reduce its discoloration.
“IPL has been shown to have anti-aging benefits. A comparison study following women over 10 years who had IPL twice per year demonstrated after pictures that looked younger than the before pictures,” Isaacson said. “So there are benefits even if you don’t necessarily look older.”
Dilute steroid injections are cortisone injected into cystic acne to make them go down overnight and disappear in a few days.
“The amount of steroid utilized is so small that there is generally no limit to the amount of times you can have this done,” Issacson said. “It can be utilized on a few number of back cysts, but not for a full back of acne.”
DC Derm Docs offers a complimentary skincare consultation to discuss treatment options that might be the best for you. Prices vary by procedure and how many sessions are needed to gain results.
