15 Best Dressed Stars from the 2016 Oscars
We all know the Oscars are about the movies, right? Best picture, best actress, best actor…but how many of you actually watch the telecast to see what the celebrities are wearing?
The 88th annual Academy Awards held on Sunday were no disappointment to those watching for the fashions rather than the films. Here are some of best dressed stars, according to several celebrity magazines in no particular order:
Rachel McAdams
Rachel McAdams, who co-starred in this year’s best picture Spotlight wears an August Getty Atelier gown with a major train and open back, plus a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch, Stuart Weitzman heels and Piaget drop earrings.
Brie Larson
Brie Larson, who won the best actress Oscar for her work in Room, wears custom Gucci with a crystal-and-pearl belt with a red lip and jewels in her hair.
Alicia Vikander
The Swedish actress, who won best supporting actress her work in The Danish Girl, brightened up the red carpet in a dusty yellow gown by Louis Vuitton with silver embellishments and a peekaboo hem. Silver shoes and diamond earrings added even more bling to the ensemble.
Charlize Theron
The Mad Max: Fury Road star made jaws drop in her plunging crimson gown by Dior Haute Couture. A long, silver pendant necklace called even more attention to her décolletage and Jimmy Choo sandals and stud earrings completed her sultry look.
Saoirse Ronan
The Brooklyn star wowed in a plunging green dress by Calvin Klein that featured a low back and swirling beaded designs on the skirt. Chopard jewels were the perfect finishing touch.
Kate Winslet
Kate Winslet, nominated for best supporting actress in Steve Jobs, arrived in a custom Ralph Lauren Collection liquid black, silk lamé strapless gown with vine-inspired diamond drop Nirav Modi earrings.
Cate Blanchette
The actress nominated for best actress for her role in Carol, made a statement in an Armani Privé seafoam-green cap-sleeve mermaid gown that featured hand-sewn clusters of Swarovski crystals and white feathers. She completed her look with a Roger Vivier clutch, cascading diamond earrings and a sparkly bracelet by Tiffany & Co.
Lady Gaga
The singer who was nominated for an Academy Award for her song Til It Happnens to You from The Hunting Ground refuses to be boring as usual with a crisp white jumpsuit from Brandon Maxwell that comes with a full train and $8 million of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
Margot Robbie
The Suicide Squad actress looked just like an Oscar statue in her liquid gold gown by Tom Ford. Robbie paired the ’70s style gown with a black minaudière clutch, velvet pumps and diamond earrings.
Julianne Moore
The Freeheld actress stunned in a black Chanel Haute Couture gown with gunmetal sparkle accents and a plunging neckline. Jewelry by Chopard added more glamour to the look.
Jennifer Garner
The Miracles from Heaven star was ravishing in a one-shoulder Atelier Versace gown that featured sparkling black beading on the bodice and a ruffled detail on the skirt. She added the perfect finishing touches with diamond bracelets and earrings and black Rene Caovilla platform sandals.
Naomi Watts
The Insurgent actress wore an Armani Privé sapphire blue and purple strapless gown embroidered in stripes of Swarovski crystals, finished with Stuart Weitzman heels. She paired the glitzy dress with even more sparkles in her diamond collar necklace and crystal-embellished box clutch.

Olivia Munn chose a one-shouldered tangeringe column dress with clean lines from Stella McCartney for the 88th Academy Awards. A metallic spiral bracelet, a Jimmy Choo clutch and stud earrings added extra sparkle to the colorful ensemble.
