The spa, which opened in September, offers holistic and therapeutic massage, skincare, acupuncture, yoga meditation, personal training, nutrition counseling, chakra and body balancing and natural waxing. The dual-level spa features four treatment rooms, including a couples’ massage suite, a fitness center with both indoor and outdoor space and a boutique. There is even a tech lounge for those who cannot be unconnected too long.

Yoga and meditation classes are offered Tuesday from 6:30 -7:30 a.m., Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 9-10 a.m. There is also a Run Club that meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m. to train for a 5K race. During warmer weather, sunrise and dusk yoga classes are offered outside as are demonstrations by organic chefs on outdoor grills.

Other services such as personal training, one-on-one yoga or massages can be scheduled to fit each person’s needs. And retreats and workshops on topics such as henna, healthy living and women’s health are planned, according to co-owner Cheyenne Payne.

Payne said acupuncture, a traditional Asian medicine, uses micro-thin needs to stimulate healing points on the body. It can be done individually or in a group for happy hour acupuncture for beginners to learn more about it. It is also offered as full-body or auricular on the outside of the ear. “Ears are connected to many points on the body,” she said. “The customized treatment can be used to tap into one’s chi from head to toe.” It can be used to treat anxiety, skeletal issues and even sciatica, but you “have to be open to it or your body will reject it.”

Payne, who is from Bermuda and previously worked in the hospitality industry and for the American Herbal Products Association in Silver Spring, said she began to look into alternative medicine when she lost her mother to breast cancer.

A Wellness Plan membership is $59 a month for a minimum of three months and includes one facial, one 60-minute customized massage or one acupuncture session each month. During the month of December, the spa is offering 20 percent off on Tuesdays, 50 percent off waxing on Wednesdays, two services including brow wax, fresh facial, body scrub or seated massage for $40 on Thursdays, 50 percent off acupuncture happy hour or personal training sessions on Fridays and buy one item in the boutique and get 10 percent off a second item. A full list of services and prices is available online.

Wellness Spa Retreat Boutique is open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
