How to Avoid a Fever but Keep Things Hot
December is finally here. Although you are super excited for the continuous holiday cheer, you can’t help but fear the dreaded winter bug. You’re in that state where you’re not yet sick, but you could feel it coming any time.
Here’s the bigger dilemma. There’s nothing more you want to do than fool around and cuddle indoors with your lover, but what do you do when either you or your partner feels under the weather? Personally, nothing can keep my boyfriend and I apart. If one of us is sick, we know the other is doomed so we just do shots of Dayquil together and tough it out.
But if you’re a germaphobe and the idea of kissing your runny nosed lover freaks you out, it’s alright. You can still keep the sparks in your relationship while keeping your distance. Here are some alternatives to prevent the fever but keep up the heat miles away.
Netflix night:
Now I know this might sound corny, but setting a long distance movie date can be cute and endearing. It’s like you are close enough to feel together, but far enough to avoid catching anything. Plus, now you can stretch out and not share any space on the bed. So check out the new releases and set a time to start your movie marathon.
Call me, maybe:
Remember when texting didn’t exist, and you actually had to use your voice at all times to communicate with your loved one? Well while your lover is quarantined in their room, give them a call and stay up all night. Throwback to those middle school days and play 21 questions until the Nyquil kicks in. Who knows, you may even find out some new fun facts about your partner.
Scandal Skype:
While watching movies and talking are fun, they don’t exactly satisfy your sexual needs. You’re sick, not dead. You don’t want your sex life to go cold turkey, so here’s a way to spice things up! Slip on some sexy lingerie and surprise your partner with some scandal Skype. They’ll see this look-not-touch tease as motivation to get better sooner.
Brave enough to jump in the fire?
If you’re like me and not intimidated by a little flu, go crazy but stay cautious. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to carry around some hand sanitizer and drink a ton of water. You want to keep your immune system strong so that you hopefully fight off any potential threats, but reality is that you’re playing with fire. But if things are serious, this is just step one closer to preparing for “in sickness and in health,” so there you go. No one said love was easy. So one of you pass the tissues and Tylenol while the other passes the chips and dip. Enjoy your sick day sleepover and make the most of it. At least you’re not alone.
