Wine, District Flea & H Street Festival

I think many of us can agree that fall is by far the best time of year to be in D.C. Beautiful, warm sunny days turn into crisp, chilly nights. It’s perfect to be outside. Don’t catch yourself staying in this weekend! Check out some of these fun outdoor events, including wine in a water park, New York’s best flea market brought to D.C. denizens and a pre-fashion week fashion show at the H Street Festival. Happy weekend!

What better way to wind down the week than with wine, water fountains and food? Perfect for young singles, couples and families, Wine in the Water Park combines sips and sounds to create an ambient outdoor event featuring interesting wine varietals and live music in the neighborhood’s signature Crystal City Water Park. Expert noses from the Washington Wine Academy help guests select and enjoy the perfect wine for an afterwork beverage to kick-off the weekend right. Every Friday in September, 6–10 p.m. at the Crystal City Water Park (across from 1750 Crystal Drive, Arlington). Free admission and snacks, $5 wine, $5 beer.

If you missed its first weekend last Saturday, you have plenty to catch up on. District Flea has recreated the Brooklyn vintage/flea market experience here in D.C. Old knick-knacks galore, vintage military jackets for him, beautiful everythings for her. District Flea is a collaboration between local vendors and the people that started the Brooklyn Flea, featuring antique and repurposed furniture, vintage clothing, collectibles and antiques, as well as a tightly curated selection of jewelry, art and crafts by artisans from in and around D.C., New York, Baltimore and Philly. And of course, delicious fresh food! Check out some of the vendors. Every Saturday from Sept. 14-Oct. 19, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at 945 Florida Ave., NW.

Fashion Week at H Street Festival

Fashion Week in D.C. begins with a pre-fashion week show at the H Street Festival. There will be 10 blocks of festivities including music, fashion, art & food. H Street has so much to celebrate this year — the completion of the streetscape project, the opening of many new businesses along the corridor and the survival of the businesses that have been part of the H Street community for years. Come eat, have fun and check out some of the fashion! Saturday, Sept. 21 at H Street N.E. (4th to 14th Streets). Free Admission.

The ninth annual Green Festival shows visitors how to be healthier — socially, economically and environmentally — while sustaining the planet and its natural resources. The two days of activities include workshops and special presentations to educate the public on healthy lifestyle choices and includes a Green Kids Zone, where youngsters can enjoy recycled crafts and educational exhibits, culinary workshops featuring vegetarian cuisine, free yoga classes, an organic food court and beer and wine garden. Saturday, Sept. 21 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 22 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Cost is $10 for one day and $20 for the weekend online or $15 and $25 at the door. Free admission for anyone who rides a bike to the event and parks with the Clif Bar bike valet, youth under 18, union members, volunteers and Green America and Global Exchange members.
