Girls on the Run is a positive youth development program and will be hosting its annual winter 5K in D.C. to celebrate the hard- work and commitment of area preteen girls. The after-school program fosters active living and positive attitudes for young girls through training and physical fitness.
The event  is THIS  Sunday, December 4th starting at 8:30am at American University (Go Eagles! My old stomping grounds, where I attended Grad School.)

Councilmember Mary Cheh will present Girls on the Run with a Ceremonial Resolution honoring its work promoting the education and preparation of young girls.

Girls on the Run in DC will serve 2,000 girls on 160 teams across all eight wards of the District this year. Sixty percent of these girls require scholarships in order to participate, and this percentage is growing. YOU CAN HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Whether it’s volunteering, donating, or just showing up to support! Please click HERE to make a difference in these girls lives.

The race will start at 10 a.m. with pre-race activities starting at 8:30 a.m.
