February Isn’t All About Couples💖💕

Valentine’s Day will be here before you know it. With just one day left in January, everyone forgets Singles Awarness Day on Feb. 15. Typical that we tie Singles Awareness Day with Valentine’s Day, but honestly the whole month of February is about couples.

Leading up to Valentine’s Day, all people can talk about are their dates with their significant others. If you are single during this time, you are either scrambling to find a hinge date to celebrate with, rekindling an old fling just for the hell of it or you are completely fine with dying alone and tune out all your annoyingly taken family, friends and coworkers.

Of course Valentine’s Day itself is the peak of it, but the days following can be just as bad. Backlogged photos from the day will flood your Instagram feed, at least five people you know will have been proposed to and you will be haunted by all the discount chocolate and gifts at CVS or Walgreens.

With Valentine’s Day in the middle of the month, the aura of love pretty much takes over the week before, day of and the weeks prior until March where people start to calm down and shift their focus back to March Madness and St. Patty’s Day. Let’s face it, every month has its one or two big moments that everyone focuses on, and for February, it is pretty much all about love because the three-day Presidents Day weekend isn’t sexy.

I am saying all this and I am taken, which says a lot. It is just everywhere! As I think back to when I was single and it was annoying, especially then. So for all my singles, just know this unbearable month will soon pass. Luckily, it is the shortest month.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate love, I really do love it. But all things love plastered everywhere all the time can be overwhelming. Just imagine breaking up during February, it would be terrible!

So if you are single this upcoming month. It is going to be okay. Instead of focusing on how single you are, think about how LOVED you are. Not romantically, but by your family, friends and of course yourself! Self love is so important. On Valentine’s Day, book a spa day and pamper yourself or invite some girlfriends. Buy yourself a gift because why not treat yourself. You don’t need anyone to make you feel special or treat you right — you have yourself!

Anyway, you want to be your best you before diving into anything serious with someone special. So delete your dating apps for the month as a detox and just enjoy yourself with no pressure. Who knows, maybe you are your own best Valentine’s Day surprise.
