What Shampoo Do Blondes Use?
Well, it happened. I had blonde ends because of the summer sun and different hues of auburn intermixed in my hair from pools, beaches and grown out highlights. But now, I am officially a golden blonde.

My hairstylist wanted to see what I would look like if I went fully blonde, and it is too much of a change for me. I like being a brunette with mixed colors. The blonde makes me feel like a different person and I should change my wardrobe, makeup and other things. (That’s for another post though.) She warned blondes have to use special shampoo so that the color doesn’t turn brassy, which is a dull blonde that can turn green or grayish-white depending on what your base color is.
That led me to look into specific types of shampoos for brunettes, which exist as well. I’ve been dying my hair since I was 14, so maintaining color vibrancy is always something that is important when you leave the salon and care for your hair at home.

My stylist recommended is R+Co Sunset Blvd Blonde Shampoo. I’ve only used it once, so I can’t see a difference yet, but the shampoo claims to keep blondes blonder, keep the blonde from turning brassy and not strip away the color you just had applied at the salon. Coconut gently cleans your hair and keeps is nourished.
The shampoo had a glitter to it that actually translates the shine to your hair. It is not purple, as I’m told most blonde toning shampoos are, but silver. Some reviews say that the shampoo was too strong for women with sensitive scalps, so you will have to make sure to watch out for any sensitivities on your scalp or skin around your hairline.
I’m excited to see where this shampoo takes me with my new goldilocks looks. However, if I do decide that brunettes have more fun, I like knowing that there is shampoo to help keep my brown hair caramel color after a trip to the salon.
