Through a friend, I had the chance to head inside the tent at Lincoln Center. It gave me a different perspective to the controlled chaos that happens during Mercedez Benz Fashion Week. The best part was seeing the models arrive in I-don’t-care rocker looks then transform into refined elements of style, helping designers’ artistic dreams come true.
For these models, the week is a job. As they’re getting their nails, hair and makeup done at the same time sometimes, they’re just like us — checking their phones (read: Instagram feed).
Bloggers, editors and others creating and covering the spring-summer 2014 collections are constantly examining the girls and boys. The models oblige to getting their picture taken over and over. I wonder if it gets tiring?
It was a fun experience. I’ll have to up my game on street style, inspired by the look-books!
