So you just had your baby. Congratulations! Welcoming a new baby is such a wonderful time in a parent’s life. You will probably want to let all your friends and loved ones know about your new arrival, and the best way to do that is to send out birth announcements. Here are a few ideas for unique baby announcements all your family and friends are sure to love.

Take a photo

The first thing you will want for your birth announcements is photos of your new baby. If you would like to go with professional photos, make sure you find a photographer with plenty of experience. You want to make sure your baby is in good hands. A professional photographer can take beautiful photos of your newborn and capture your child in new ways. You can also opt to use your own photos instead. Most smartphones have great cameras, or you can pick up an affordable camera at a pawn shop. A few practice sessions and you will be taking great photos of your newborn in no time.

Choose a design

Once you have your photos, either from a pro or your camera roll, you will want to start designing your announcement cards. Baby blues work great for boy announcements, and pastel pinks are really cute for girl announcements. You can also add floral and botanical designs to your cards to add extra flare. If you want to get more creative, you can make your baby announcements really pop by using unique color schemes. Try using gender neutral color schemes instead: Yellows, greens, corals and dark blues are all great options for a neutral color scheme. Whether you go for a traditional color scheme, like light blues and pinks, or a more unconventional color palette with yellows and corals, your announcements will be wonderful.

Pick a font

Another way to customize your announcements is to use exciting and bold fonts. Create unique layouts with your text, either by centering the words or putting them off to the side in an unexpected way. You can also use foil printing on words you want to draw attention to, like your baby’s name. Foil is an elegant way to make your stationery stand out, without being too over the top. One company that offers foil printing, text customization and custom color options is Basic Invite. They have a bunch of personalized birth announcement designs that are simply beautiful. Be sure to check them out.

When it comes to birth announcements, there is a lot to think about: What photos to use and if you hire a pro or DIY them. Your color options from good old pastel pink and blues to brighter, unconventional options like yellows or greens. And the font styles are important too. Layout and foil options play a huge role in how your card looks. However you decide to design your birth announcements, they will be perfect. They will reflect your tastes and let all your loved ones know about your new baby. Everyone will love them almost as much as your newborn.
