Make a Lasting Impression on Your 1st Date

A first date is usually nerve-wracking, delicate and tricky as it is your first impression of someone that you like and probably want to continue dating. If you are looking for someone to share the love with, go on Happy Matches to find your perfect partner.

Here are some of ways to impress him or her on your first date:

Prepare well before the date

Before the date, it is totally normal to feel nervous, anxious, excited or a mix of all three feelings. It is important to try doing activities that will take your mind off the date, making you less nervous, and more calm and relaxed. Performing yoga, singing, reading your favorite novel or watching a movie are some of the simple things you can do to compose yourself before the date. And don’t forget, before leaving your house for the big night, take a shower, groom yourself properly and put on clothes that will make you feel comfortable and confident.

Be a good listener

It impresses someone when you listen attentively to what they are saying. However, this doesn’t mean that you have to be completely silent, just ensure that you internalize what you are being told then respond appropriately without changing the flow of the conversation. Also, it is crucial that you avoid distractions such as texting, browsing or taking calls during the date.

Have a sense of humor

Laughing when you are being told a funny story — or even at yourself — enables your date to be more open and relaxed around you. It is a great way to relieve any nervous tension during the date and makes your conversation more fun and enjoyable.

Carry a gift for your date

Some people prefer presenting a gift on the night, while others would send it the following day along with a message telling the person what a great time they had. Either way, you can show them how you appreciated the time with them and showing that you value them, which makes them feel valued. Nonetheless, when selecting a gift for your date, ensure it is simple and has lasting value rather than being flashy.

Use your manners

Manners define what kind of person you are. Ensure that you use polite language, with key words such as “thank you” and “please.” Moreover, have some table etiquette and avoid unsocial behavior such as talking while eating. Manners will impress your date, meaning you will be more likely to meet up again.

Have confidence

Confidence is an admirable trait for most people. Be yourself and show your date that you are comfortable with who you are and that you love yourself. This will make them like you even more, and they will be impressed. However, do not show too much confidence, as this can be read as bragging or or being too proud, which will ruin your date.

Be calm and relaxed

Being calm and relaxed helps you gain composure on your first date, saving you from awkward moments that might be embarrassing. Laughing when your partner tells a joke enables you to relieve any nervous tension.

If you are lucky enough to identify your dates favorite restaurant, take them there and ensure that you have fun. This could be the simplest way to impress them.
