Could your Hair Use a Mask Treatment?

If your hair is fried, damaged, thinning, tangled and just an all around a hot mess, then you probably shouldn’t be getting platinum blonde highlights like I do. But I am me, and I choose to do this because, well, beauty trends call. However, I will say that using a nightly or even weekly mask can make a transformative difference when it comes to caring for your hair when it is in such a delicate conditions.

I had searched all over to find the hair mask that works best for me. Then, the manufacturer stopped making it. Can you believe this happens in the beauty industry, even with great products? Well it is true; they stopped making the brand, and I have not found one like it. If you remember my post on the Tendu Conditioning Hair Mask, that is the one I am talking about.

I had to hit the drawing board again and try to find other masks that could possibly be a detangler, hair strengther and great smelling product all in one. Seems like an easy quest, but with so many hair masks out there at all different price points, it is a bit overwhelming to even start the process.

Some hair masks can be on the affordable side and work great, while some expensive ones don’t do anything different than a drugstore brand. Then again, some drugstore brand hair masks are not that great when it then comes to value, and it is better to spend the extra dimes and get a designer brand since your hair is just as important as your morning matcha latte. It makes you feel great about yourself.

A new favorite is Aveda’s Be Curly Intensive Detangling Masque. For me, this hair mask detangles, but not as well as the one I used to use. However, it doesn’t keep my wavy hair very hydrated throughout the day, but does act as a frizz tamer, eliminating the need to use an anti-frizz serum. It also smells very natural and organic. I recommend using this in place of your daily conditioner. It can be bought an Aveda Salon and Spa near you.

Wella Fusionplex Mask, again, does not detangle as well as my previous hair mask, but using it every three days really does help protect my hair from breakage. Due to the silksteel fusion program that Wella products use, this hair mask uses two amino acids and micronized lipids that penetrates down into the core of your hair fiber making it resilient, smooth and less prone to breaking. This is something I would use everyday, but because it is so good I don’t need to do that. This hair mask can be bought in stores or online.
