Are Celebrity Weddings Overrated?
Not everyone agrees we need to know about a celeb’s big day in judgemental ways. They would also say that there is a lot of details out there that we just don’t need to know from a public standpoint. However, a lot of the time it is because magazines need filler pages, and also a lot of the time it is fun to share in someone’s happiness despite us not knowing them on a personal level. So what it is about celebrity weddings that people find annoying? Here is a little food for thought:
When it comes to it, a wedding is meant to be a private time for the couple and close friends and family. But choosing to allow others to come in and watch, or turn up to the reception doesn’t have to take away from the meaning of the day for the two of you.
They have too many outfits
There are quite a few dresses you buy for your big day, that usually consist of the actual gown itself, the dress for the reception or afterparty, maybe something to change into when you sweat that out, and then you have the clothes for the honeymoon. Even thinking about it sounds a little exhausting.
However, people overbuy a lot of the time. When you hear about the amount of money a famous bride or groom spent on the outfits for their wedding, you want to roll your eyes or gasp; we are not all made of money. However, even though it can be overkill, these dresses can be donated to charity or other people planning their nuptials, or given away to friends and family. There is always a giving element when it comes to big celebrations, so what happens to any extraneous items can surprise you.
The ring photos are everywhere
Instagram is full of posts, and quite a lot of them are PDAs that a lot of the time we could do without. However, when we think about it, having a platform to just post about yourself on feels good, and you can get a lot of support from the comments and the likes on each subsequent post.
Of course, when you are wearing something like a 77 Diamonds engagement ring, you are going to want to show it off, but having a huge platform there to show off to definitely helps tip your opinion on whether or not you want to share in the love.
It just feels a little tiring
This is the main thing a lot of us have a problem with: distracting news. We want to know the nitty and gritty of what is going on today, and big news sites often don’t deliver.
Overall, I think we can agree that a lot of news slots can be devoted to something a little more worthy than the woes of hollywood. However, even when we see a wedding plastered all over social media, it is a happy occasion, and that deserves celebrating. It is not all doom and gloom after all.
