3 Tips for Designing a Chic Apartment

It can be incredibly thrilling moving into a new apartment or deciding to renovate an existing apartment. At the same time, the thrill of something new has a tendency to wear off relatively quickly. So it is up to you to keep the spark alive in order to create a functional, cozy, attractively chic apartment.

The spark you might need could be the budget. It doesn’t have to cost a small fortune to redesign your home. In fact, professional designers achieve this task all the time. They have certain go-to chic design options that they use.

1. Painting your apartment

For some reason, renters have a tendency to overlook painting their apartment when they are trying to make it look chic and attractive. Sometimes the owner of the apartment will not allow you to repaint the place, and if that is the case you can either negotiate with them or learn to live with it. Others will have no problem letting you paint your apartment. They will be happy you are willing to go the extra mile to make your place look beautiful and even more valuable.

When it comes to choosing the paint colors, make sure you use neutral, soft colors. It is easier to paint over these colors when it comes time to move. Take inspiration from Arbors at Antelope apartments and see some wonderful visual examples of beautifully painted living spaces.

Stick with soft and neutral colors and choose various shades of gray, brown and white. They are very complementary colors and have a tendency to pop when properly accessorized.

2. Adding artwork

One of the easiest ways to completely upgrade your dull and boring living space to a chic apartment is to add gorgeous, portable art. It is very easy to find the perfect art for your apartment, and since it comes in many forms, you should have no trouble discovering beautiful pieces to decorate your glamorously hip digs.

No one is saying you have to buy magnificent works of art from Michelangelo, Picasso or da Vinci! There are many affordable and friendly options to choose from. Go online and look through prints, look at posters online or in a local shop, and check out affordable frames in person or on the internet.

3. Getting the lighting right

No apartment is truly complete unless you get the lighting right. By changing the lighting, just like Carmel Midtown Square Apartments in Camp Springs, Md., have done, you can make an ordinary and boring rental look absolutely fabulous and totally chic.

How do you add new lighting without making structural changes within your apartment? Lamps are certainly a great place to start. No structural changes are required, and if you buy the perfect design, you will truly be able to spruce up the place while enhancing your overall lighting needs.

Make sure to ask the owner if you can swap out fixtures. Get rid of old brass fixtures and put in pendant lighting, a statement chandelier or whatever type of lighting is perfect for your style. Just remember for more drama, you should focus on accent lighting, task lighting or layer ambient lighting.

If you want to have a beautiful and chic dining room or a complete apartment makeover, these design tips will help you go a long way. So use them sooner rather than later.
