Fall Runway Looks for the Office

Fall has officially arrived in the DMV. Looking for fall makeup trends can be a bit of a chore when you have so many new looks to consider, or if you find the fall trends a bit silly since most come straight from the runways. Below are some fall trends from the runway that could easily be applied to the working woman’s face. Unfortunately, not all of us are runway models, so this will help you pull of the runway model looks that are currently in style.

Copper-colored eye shadows are great because coppers can be pulled off at work easily if you find the right shade with just the right amount of shimmer. Too much shimmer will make you look like you are coming into work with last night’s party makeup on.

The key is to blend the copper eye shadow with other colors to make it look casual and natural. Check out Pixi’s Mesmerizing Mineral Palette in Copper Peach. It comes with other shades to blend with the copper for that natural look.

The single-shade face uses only one color for the eyes, cheeks and lips. This means the color will need to range from a light pink to a soft red to enhance the natural shades of your skin. No other makeup is applied to the face, only these three parts of the face get makeup.

To pull off this look for work, you need to make sure the color you choose is not too bright or too light, but more of a naturally blending pink or red. This look gives the effortless made up look, since you are highlighting the parts of your face that usually get makeup. But since they are all one shade, it looks more as if one did not try too hard, yet still looks made up in a laidback style.

Runway eyebrows are currently bold and dramatic and take up more than half of the forehead because of it. The perfectly tweezed, thick brows look is great on some women, but rather silly on others. Thankfully, because brushed up brows are now in style this season, you no longer have to fill in your eyebrows with so many products. This look shows imperfection in the brows because the key is to letting them look bushy instead of perfectly arched with no hairs out of place.

For work, let your eyebrow growth show (but not as unkempt as on the runway), then fill them in with a mascara brow gel or eyebrow pomade. Check out the award winning Gimme Brow by Benefit Cosmetics.
