Wearable Winter Fashion

Fall is already here, which means that forward-thinking fashionistas are planning winter wardrobes. If looking great and following the latest trends throughout all the seasons is important to you, then there is nothing wrong with a little pre-planning. In fact, we encourage it. Winter fashion should be wearable, functional and flattering even if you need to bundle up in pieces that are extra warm and cozy. Fortunately, there are plenty of practical trends this year, and we are going to share a few of our favorites with you.

Puffer coats

Big, soft, pillowy coats are in for winter and this is a trend that can fit every budget. Whether you wish to go the high-end route with a luxury coat like those featured on Lyst or an affordable second-hand jacket, it is easy to find the perfect coat for you. Choose a parka style equipped with a fur or sherpa lining for even more warmth in the winter. Pair your puffy coat with warm jeans, your favorite flannel and combat boots for a casual look. And for a dressier outfit, you can easily wear this jacket on the go with polished pantsuits, skinny jeans and over-the-knee boots, or long knit dresses and platform ankle booties.

Luxe velvet

Big name designers are crushing on this smooth, rich fabric. Coats, dresses, blazers and even shoes are being draped in velvet. While these are all great for the season, the piece we recommend picking up for winter would have to be a pair of velvet trousers. Perfect for work or play, these would look great with a variety of blouses, sweaters and boots.

Platform boots

Sky-high and super sexy, platform boots are hot for the cold season according to a trend report from Elle. Chunky shoes like these have the power to transform a frumpy winter look into something that is both fabulous and fresh. Skip the snowshoes (if you can) and opt for fun pair of platforms in an unexpected pattern like leopard or a vibrant color like plum to spice up your cold weather look. You can wear them with trousers, skinny jeans, dresses with leggings and so much more.

Faux fur

Faux fur everything is popular this year, and the fashion experts over at Harper’s Bazaar agree that this trend is on fire — faux real! Vests, jackets, stoles and even accessories as small as a fluffy fur keychain are fair game when it comes to sporting this textural look for winter. One of our favorites would have to be the vest. It is versatile and can be layered over sweaters, oxford shirts, dresses and flannels. The bottom choices are endless, too. From trousers to skirts, a faux fur vest would look great with almost everything in your winter wardrobe.
