8 Fashion Faux Pas to Avoid This Winter
Getting dressed during the cold season is a challenge to many women. You want to retain your sense of style and stay warm at the same time. Some give up as the season progresses and wear anything from
their closet that feels warm. One secret to staying stylish during winter is to plan. Think about the clothes and accessories you will need during the cold season when enjoying the sunny summer. Look for
winter fashion tips and shop in advance. Here are some of the fashion faux pas you must avoid this winter.
Shorts and sandals
You may be tempted to take a break from wearing boots and wear sandals. Even if you are wearing a warm jacket or coat over the shorts, your legs will freeze. Spare your stylish sandals for summer and spring.
Open toe shoes
A stylish pair of shoes compliments your outfit. Open toe shoes are stylish but wrong for winter. You would be better off changing your outfit or buying a closed shoe than stepping out in open toe shoes. If all you’ve got in your wardrobe are open toe shoes and sandals, you need to start shopping afresh.
High heels
Many women cannot think of any elegant look without high heels. However, it is not a good idea to wear high heels outside your house or office this cold season. This does not mean you that forget about your heels until the weather changes. Wear a warm pair of shoes and then change into high heels when you get to the office.
Leggings
Leggings are lighter and more comfortable than bum ripped boyfriend jeans. However, they are not warm enough for winter. No matter how warm your boots or coat are, you will still freeze when wearing leggings. Trade them for jeans until the season changes.
Ignoring layering
You will experience the lowest temperatures in the mornings and evenings during this season. Dress up with these changes in mind. You may not need to wear that heavy coat all day, especially if you heat your office or house to comfortable temperatures. Layering is the best to way to transition from one setting to another.
Stockings
You cannot rely on stockings during the cold season. No amount of layering will keep you warm while wearing stockings. They are great for the autumn and spring, but not winter. You will still feel cold even if you wear them with warm boots or long coats.
Short jackets
You may want to stand out with stylish warm jackets and avoid the long coats that everybody wears in the cold season. Unfortunately, you will not survive a day in the winter with a short jacket. You have a wide collection of fashionable long coats to choose from so now is the time to invest.
Wet hair
Do not wash your hair in the morning if you do not have enough time to dry it. Even if you are rushing out to get something, do not step out with wet hair. Wait until it dries to go out. You will be miserable and may end up getting sick because of the cold.
Wearing the wrong clothes and accessories in winter does not only make you look odd but also increases your risk of getting sick. Layering will keep you warm all day and make your transition to different settings easier. Ask for help when shopping for your winter collection if you are unsure.
