Make Your Own Fireworks on the Fourth
The Fourth of July weekend is around the corner, and everyone is rushing to finalize last minute plans. Since a lot of people get this holiday off, there is definitely a reason to celebrate all weekend long. So grab a date ASAP and start planning your patriotic weekend plans.
In case your mind is going blank on what to do, here are a couple ideas to try out with someone special:
Parade party
Who doesn’t love parades? America’s National Independence Parade is on The Forth of July in our nation’s capitol, and you won’t want to miss it. So have your date meet you on Constitution Avenue between Seventh and 17th street, and snag a great spot to watch this festivity. Cross your fingers for good weather, and it should be quite a sight!
Body of water
Whether it be a beach or a lake, being by a body of water is always a popular go-to with your date on the Fourth. While Airbnb and hotels are already booking very fast, there is still time to get something, but be quick. As long as you get to dip your toes in the sand, your date will love watching fireworks go off above the water next to you.
Batter up
One of my favorite Independence Day traditions is heading to a ballgame. Whether it be supporting our Nationals, or a smaller local team like the Bowie Baysox, the Frederick Keys or the Potomac Nationals, a baseball game is a perfect date night setting. There is beer and hot dogs, and every night ends with dramatic fireworks that will leave you breathless. Just make sure you get your tickets soon so you don’t miss out on all the fun.
Backyard fun
If you aren’t about last minute planning, throw something yourself. You will eliminate some costs and stress by hosting your own cookout. Either arrange a private one with your date, or invite both your friends to enjoy the holiday together. Have people pitch in with food and fireworks for even more fun. And let people spend the night so everyone is safe and off the roads.
The Fourth will be fun no matter what you do. Just be sure to make wise decisions, like getting a designated driver to avoid drunk driving. You want to make sure you and your date stay safe. Other than that, remember the true meaning of the holiday and party like its 1776.
