Holi-Dates with Someone Special
The most wonderful time of the year is here yet again! While the weather’s been bipolar, I can assure you the holidays are right around the corner. From shopping for gifts and holiday outfits, I’m sure your hands are full. But don’t forget the ones that matter most. Whether it be a significant other or someone you’re seeing, make room in your schedule to treat them to a festive date.
Luckily living in the nation’s capital, there are a multitude of holiday dates options. Go on one or all of the following festive dates:
National Christmas Tree
If you’re in the DMV you can not NOT visit the National Christmas Tree. It’s such a classic holiday date. You get to bundle up with your date as you admire all the lights and decorations. Plus afterwards you can grab some delicious hot chocolate before going back home to snuggle by the fireplace. The tree is lit from 4:30-10 p.m. nightly through Jan. 1.
Ice skating
You can’t celebrate the holidays without an adorable ice skating date with your loved one. There’s so many options too! From the National Gallery of Art’s Sculpture Garden and the Washington Harbour on the Georgetown waterfront to Pentagon Row and Canal Park, it seems like you can’t avoid this fun, festive date night. Public skate hours and prices vary from place to place, but most stay open until February or even March. So start planning at least one ice skating adventure this holiday season.
The Nutcracker
The Nutcracker is a holiday must-see event! If you missed the performance at the Kennedy Center don’t fret. Grab a date and check out the Washington Ballet’s version at the Warner Theatre until Dec. 27. Hurry now before tickets sell out!
ICE!
Do you love winter wonderlands? Do you enjoy staying indoors? Well you can have your ice cream cake and eat it to at the Gaylord Resort and Convention Center’s ICE! at National Harbor. From a live ice craving zone to sculptures, slides and more, this date is bound to be a ton of fun. Luckily, you have until Jan. 3 to visit this phenomenal holiday attraction.
Miracle On Seventh Street
D.C.’s Mockingbird Hill bar, 1843 Seventh St. NW, has been transformed into a winter wonderland. Enjoy festive cocktails by drink master Derek Brown. There’s a variety of festivities lined up throughout the week like free cookie Thursday, Bad Santa happy hour from 5-8 p.m. every Friday, and the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington from 9 p.m.-close every Sunday. And if you’re Jewish, you’ll be excited to hear that there’s Manischewitz punch pong games every Wednesday in the “Hannukah Hangout” room. You may need to hurry and grab a date because this pop-up Christmas bar shuts down Christmas Eve.

If not, the price increases to $30 at the door, but you’re still guaranteed to have the time of your life.
