election, happy hour, Washington DC Drinker’s Choice Awards

Make Your Vote Count!

If you’re a political junkie in DC then it has been far too long (under 4 months) since you had an election to get riled up about.  And if you are involved in politics at all then you are most likely filling the days between election cycles with heavy drinking. Now here is an event for you!

Washington DC Drinker’s Choice Awards, put on by happy hour aficionados Drink DC, combines civic responsibility and booze in a contest to decide an issue more divisive than partisan politics itself: What to drink and where to drink it…

In a two round process, DC drinkers will vote for their favorite District bar, electing the candidate that best represents their needs as a drinker from a list of seven key issues:

  • Best Beer Selection
  • Best New Bar of 2012
  • Best Bar Food
  • Best Drink Specials
  • Best Cocktail Program
  • Best Wine Program
  • Best Local Brewery

The top 10 candidates from each primary will then advance to a final round which will be decided by a popular vote over a two week period. The winner in each category will receive a custom-engraved plaque and recognition on Drink DC’s website.

The first voting round is now underway until February 24th. The second vote runs from February 26–March 10.

So get out the vote and support your favorite local spot as well as democracy in action by marking a ballot and raising a glass!
