Let’s get real! Football season is the best time of the year – Saturday and Sunday FUNDAYS that include obscene amounts of day drinking, BBQ and men in tight pants! But unfortunately, most women can’t keep up with their man’s unhealthy habits of binge drinking high-calorie beer and eating ribs and wings. So what’s a girl to do? Read my top 8 tips for healthy tailgating – face the facts, your man can’t tell a difference between beef and turkey after a few cold ones!

Top 8 tips for healthy tailgating

– Swap that beef patty for a turkey patty. Don’t get the frozen stuff, pre-make the patties with lean ground turkey the day before. Add some garlic, onions and spices for some flavor.

– Like beer? Try lo-cal like MGD 64 or Bud Select 55. No binge drinking ladies, let’s keep it classy!

– Swap all the bread for wheat wraps, pitas or romaine lettuce leafs. (Tip: take food you can eat with your hands! Beer + knives are never a good combination, believe me)

– Drink a lot of water – it will fill you up and will keep you hydrated and it might help for a milder hangover the next day.

– Try turkey dogs instead of the beef/pork combination. Skip the bread & top with your favorite toppings.

– Not a beer drinker? Try skinny girl cocktails. Take it easy, they are strong! (Tip: I wouldn’t recommend liquor for a long day of tailgating!)

– Chips are a must for every game – try and make your own sweet potato chips. Use a mandolin to slice them thin, coat with a bit of olive oil, cayenne pepper, a pinch of salt & pepper & place in a 450 degree oven and bake for about 12 minutes. (Tip: Make them the night before so you don’t have to worry about it on game day)

– Last but not least, throw that football around with your man or best friends! It will be a fun way to get your heart rate up & burn some cals!
