Embassy Chef Challenge 2012

Held each spring, the Embassy Chef Challenge, spotlights Washington DC’s international community in one unforgettable evening.  Each plate satisfying far more than appetites. The Embassy Chef Challenge is Cultural Tourism DC’s annual fundraising benefit, featuring an international tastings, awards, entertainment, and a world-class silent auction.

The night was filled with food, fun and laughter.  “More than a dozen chefs from Washington, DC embassies, representing countries from around the world, compete in this friendly culinary competition. A panel of celebrity chefs and food critics serve as judges throughout the competition and select the Judge’s Choice Award. Event attendees sample food, meet the chefs, and choose the People’s Choice winner.” – Cultural Tourism DC.

The Embassy of Hungary’s head chef, Viktor Merenyi, won the grand prize at this year’s Embassy Chef Challenge after wowing judges with a traditional slow-cooked beef dish Thursday, March 8th, 2012.
