Putting the Tru in Orleans… Now Open on H Street

The H Street, NE, neighborhood  has opened its doors to a new cajun restaurant appropriately titled TruOrleans.

This Louisiana hotspot located on  400 H St., NE,  features an upstairs outdoor roof deck and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. I attended the VIP Grand Opening party and loaded up on jumbalaya and crabcakes…

BUT what I really had my eye on was there gator fritters I saw on the menu. Cannot say I have ever had gator. So needless to say I’ll be back.

TruOrleans boasts quite an expansive menu with all of the Orleans classics and then some. Fried platters of shrimp, catfish, chicken, oysters on the half shell and steak. I look forward to trying the Delmonico steak. But don’t just take my word for it. Check out the menu here.

The patio seating was comfortable and nicely spread out  and  the exterior of the  building was a  typical New Orleans establishment; the exterior includes extensive metal railing detail like those found in the French Quarter.  Ahh the French Quarter, the good ol’ French Quarter —Yes you know what I’m talking about, remember that  night  you had one too many hurricanes and way to many beads around your neck… yeah THAT French Quarter, but who’s judging?

So back to the restaurant. The jury’s still out on this cajun spot in terms of the food, but if your’e looking for a great patio and a cool spot to take you back to the Big Easy, then I say check it out.
