Pair Your Shoes with the Right Accessories

More than ever, fashion seems to have no rules. As long as you are comfortable, anything goes. However, there is still a lot of pressure to make the right fashion choices, and coordinating shoes and accessories can be tough.

It used to be that there were very strict rules you needed to follow based on many different factors such as occasion, time of day, venue and much more. For instance, shoes and bags should at least be the same color, if not the same material.

Modern women have less and less time for worrying about such trivial things. So let’s look at a few simple rules for how to coordinate your shoes with the right accessories in 2018:

Light and dark

Matching light accessories with other light accessories. For instance, if you have bedazzled Swarovski accessories like handbags or earrings, be sure to wear your silver strappy heels to the party.

They don’t need to be identical, or even the same color, but bright and neutral go well together. Even keeping it light with white, pink or beige is safer than mixing light with dark. If you do go dark, match brown or black shoes with navy blue, maroon or green accessories.

Ignore the color wheel

It is more common these days to intentionally choose colors that will clash, and we love that. It used to be a big fashion no-no, but today we see a lot of bold color statements. Mixing blues with greens, oranges with pinks and purple with yellow is more acceptable than ever before.

Neon, metallic and dramatic geometric shapes are also on the rise. Women are pairing these with just about everything for a statement of independence and unique style.

Dress up casuals with sparkles

Metallics, sparkles and glitter used to be for cocktail hours and black tie affairs. This is another rule that seems to have gone out the window in 2018. Sparkly, bedazzled Swarovski accessories now go great with jeans on a Saturday afternoon.

Shoes with lots of glitter dress up shorts, while metallic sneakers go great with your athletic wear. Mix and match your shine with backpacks, belts and bags for the ultimate, modern woman fashion statement.

You may not be comfortable with some of these carefree ideas, and that is perfectly fine. Start small by wearing your Swarovski accessories to work with your business attire in addition to the wedding you have on Saturday night.

Ease into it with a thin metallic belt and cardigan before you go all out with the sparkly earrings and stiletto heels. Before you know it, you will be strutting your stuff at the supermarket while sporting jeans and a shiny handbag.

Don’t be afraid to stretch the rules of fashion you are familiar with and exercise that fabulous accessory in the back of your closet. You will look and feel great doing it, and no one will be the wiser.
