Take Turns Having a Night Out with Friends

It is always a great time when you and your partner have a fun night out. But let’s be honest, space is nice from time to time. It is nice just to hangout with friends and escape a bit. So if you are planning a night out with friends, you may find yourself asking your partner a few favors.

This can be anything from:

Being the sober driver

Drinking and driving is never okay, but letting loosing isn’t against the rules. If you know you are having a night with your friends but don’t want to shell out on surged Uber prices, you may find yourself asking you partner to be the designated driver for the night. Nothing is wrong with this. Just make sure you return the favor when the tables are turned, and try not to make the car a mess if possible. In a way, this gives you and your partner time to catch up on the night, even if it is drunken banter.

Asking for cash

Literally who carries cash nowadays? If you find yourself needing a few emergency bucks for the night, just ask your partner. As long as its not an outrageous amount, they won’t mind. But remember to pay them back. Whether it is the next time you go to the bank or just treating them for lunch the next day, make sure you are even so they don’t hold your favor over your head.

Going on the alcohol run

Getting ready takes a while, so if your partner is just playing video games on the couch, you may fall guilty of asking them for favors to speed up the going out process. This can be anything from picking up alcohol and chasers or a quick bite to eat before walking out the door. If you ask nicely, this is usually no problem — just don’t abuse it. If your partner starts feeling like your own personal lackey, you are putting your relationship in a bad position. Favors are to be expected and appreciated, but abusing this power is just unfair to your partner.

Bottonline is that you are entitled to have fun, get drunk and maybe dance on a few tables without your partner. All of that is okay. But it is one thing to be a partner who needs a favor here and there, and another thing to need a babysitter. If you are going to drink, don’t let it get to the point where your partner is holding your hair back for you. And in case that does happen, at least apologize, thank them and buy them dinner the next day. We all slip up and go overboard sometimes, but don’t make it a bad habit and don’t forget to repay the favor. Both parties in the relationship should have a crazy night out from time to time, don’t make it one-sided and share in the fun.
