Four Seasons of Attire
With the warmer months upon us, now is a perfect time to assess your wardrobe. This is especially true for those of us who live in climates that see significant changes in weather during the spring/summer compared to fall/winter.
So, let us take a few moments to look at some of the trends that are taking shape for the coming season, and a look back at the fall/winter of 2016 and 2017.
Spring/Summer
Oh, how we love the promises of spring as it brings sunshine and warmer temperatures with it. Finally, we can replace all the outerwear with outfits that let our skin breathe and tan. So, here is a sampling of the hottest trends for the spring and summer of 2017 as reported by Jess Edwards with Cosmopolitan.
Shoulder pads? You are not hallucinating. Yes, they are coming back in style. While some designers showcased a “box” style padding, others showed off a more “relaxed” design. To go along with the padded shoulders, look for more sleeve designs such as flutes, ruffles and bunched.
Stripes were prevalent on catwalks, and what caught the eyes and attention of many seasoned fashionistas was the striped boots for contrast. If stripes are not your flavor, white shirts and dresses that are a blend of the beach and eveningwear were stylishly worn on the runways.
Fall/Winter
Tamar Najarian gave readers of Fashionisers a look at the trends for the past fall and winter seasons (2016 and 2017), and there is one overwhelming theme that bears mentioning.
The presence of masculinity on the floors of fashion shows for the fall and winter season demonstrates more than just style trends. It shows how society has come to embrace many movements that have been voiced for decades. How different are we? Not as much today, thanks to the courageous actions of others.
Worry not, this will not be a societal rant. Suits, layers, velvet and suede are just a few of the observations from the shows. Please note that these are the trends from the previous season, and as we know the upcoming 2017 and 2018 fall and winter shows will bring about more exciting designs.
An added touch for colder weather
The colder seasons provide each of us with the opportunity to layer in creativity. Have you considered a fur coat to add to your ensemble? A great way to showcase your unique tastes in style, a fur coat will set you apart for the night on the town.
One of the concerns that arise with fur is the proper long-term care. Stories are plentiful of how a customer spent their hard-earned money on a fur garment, only to have it depreciate over time. According to The Fur and Leather Centre, entrusting your fur coat to be cared for by those who have decades of experience will allow you to be able to enjoy it as if it is new for years to come.
Be who you are and do not be afraid to take a chance on your wardrobe. What we wear reflects our personality, so let it shine.
