You Can Do Microdermabrasion at Home
Last week I learned to do a microdermabrasion facial at home from Laura Carter, a Mary Kay consultant. She knows all about the latest makeup, skin cleansers, day and night creams, etc. that Mary Kay sells.
I had been wanting a microdermabrasion facial for a while bcause of my acne scars. Microdermabrasion removes the top layer of skin, making acne scars less noticeable and starts around $70 in local spas. When I came across a Mary Kay product that is part of its cleansing system, which includes a microdermabrasion face wash so that you can do facials at home, I had to know more about it.
I had heard of Mary Kay from my mother and her friends while growing up, and we have all seen the pink Mary Kay cars with the bumper sticker that lets you know how to contact the representative if interested in purchasing Mary Kay products. But, I had never actually looked into the company’s products or knew much about it. So I contacted Carter and not only did she walk me through how to do the facial, but she also introduced me to an array of products Mary Kay sells that you should consider.
The microdermabrasion face wash is used after the company’s TimeWise 3-in-1 Cleanser ($20), which combines a face wash, toner and moisturizer all in one. After washing with the cleanser, you use the TimeWise Microdermabrasion Plus Set ($55) on your face. The microdermabrasion wash has tiny crystals in it that scrape off the top layer of your skin leaving it baby fresh. Just rub it all over your face, then use the special Skinvigorate Cleansing Brush ($50) — a rotating brush that helps clean your face deep down into the pores — for about a minute then rinse your face. After you wash it off, apply the pore minimizer cream, which is included in the set and gives your face a subtle, highlighted glow. Your skin is left looking polished, younger and pore-free. All from your very own bathroom instead of a spa.
The great thing about the set is that the cleanser is milder than the chemicals used at a spa with their heavy-duty tools and microdermabrasion product, so you could do it daily at home to keep your face fresh looking from day to day. However, if you have sensitive skin, you will want to use it every other day to let your skin settle and make sure you do not irritate it.
Since getting the facial, my makeup stays on longer along with my daily SPF moisturizer. I have not had to reapply twice in a day because I have fresh skin with small pores. Anything applied on my face clings to the new skin instead of the dead skin that accumulates.
I highly recommend looking into this cleansing system along with other Mary Kay products that are created to eliminate the need to use multiple products when you can just use one. I like to mix makeup products, but finding a cleansing system that can effortlessly be used at home instead of going to a spa is something I am a fan of.
