Valentine’s & Presidents Day Events
It’s Valentines’ Day and Presidents Weekend with many of you off Monday for Presidents Day. We’ve been talking about Valentine’s Day for a few weeks now – where to eat with your loved one, what to wear, etc., so today we’ve got a list of events for those of you who don’t have a significant other as well as other events throughout this long holiday weekend.
On Metrorail this weekend, Green and Yellow Line trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule. Trains on the Orange Line will operate every 10-20 minutes and Blue Line trains will operate every 20 minutes. Buses will replace trains on the Red Line between Woodley Park and Metro Center. On Presidents Day, Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. and close at midnight. Trains will operate on a Saturday schedule. Parking at all Metro-owned lots and garages is free on Presidents Day.

Anti-Valentine’s Day Dinner
Not everyone is happily paired up on Feb. 14. The Daily Dish is hosting an Anti-Valentine’s Day Dinner. Unhappy hour at the bar will feature Flying Dog Raging Bitch & Snake Dog , Suffering Bastard cocktail and olives, pickled garlic and blue cheese dip with garlic crostini. Other drink specials include a Bitter Betty Martini, Love on the Rocks and the Blood Orange Margarita. Dinner specials will include Shot Through the Heart meatballs, the Bitter Green They Called Her salad, Tainted Love lobster and crawfish ravioli with squid ink stripe and the Love Stinks platter of stinky cheeses. The bitter deserve a sweet ending with Sweet Bitter Love, a bittersweet chocolate pot de crème and You and Tequila Make Me Crazy, a not so sweet shot of Corralejo Tequila.
Feb. 14 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. with unhappy hour at the bar from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at The Daily Dish, 8301-A Grubb St., Silver Spring.
Singles Exercise and Yoga
Join Lululemon Athletica for a complimentry Valentine’s Day Lava Barre exercise and yoga class. Lava Barre exercise combines ballet-barre, pilates, cardio and strength training. This fun, all-levels barre and yoga class is set to music. Refreshments to follow.

Singles Soriee
Washingtonian Magazine is holding Singles Soriee – the Anti-Valentine’s Day Party. Mix and mingle with Washington’s most eligible bachelors and bachelorette. Guests will enjoy sweet treats, cocktails, live music and can play skeeball, shuffleboard, pool, foosball and more! There will also be “Singled Out DC,” a dating game show where local singles will compete for love. The winning couples will win a fun-filled date night package.

Meet a Marine Auction
The Ugly Mug and Fabulous Shoe Night is sponsoring a Meet a Marine Auction benefit. The cover charge includes a glass of champagne, a Valentine’s Day cupcake, drink specials and a donation to the United Soldiers and Sailors of America. Auction winners receive a $50 gift card to any District Restaurant Group restaurant (The Ugly Mug, District 2 Bar & Grille or Jake’s American Grille) and a rose from their Marine.

Roseanne Cash at Lisner Auditorium
For over three decades, Rosanne Cash has been one of the most compelling figures in popular music. The eldest daughter of country music icon Johnny Cash and stepdaughter of June Carter Cash of the legendary Carter Family, Rosanne’s musical and family legacy is rooted in the very beginnings of American country music with its deep cultural and historical connections to the south. Her own thoughtful, genre-blurring approach, which encompasses country, rock, roots and pop influences, has garnered her a Grammy, 12 Grammy nominations, and 11 No. 1 singles.

George Washington’s 282nd birthday
George Washington’s favorite breakfast were “hoecakes swimming in butter and honey.” Join “General Washington” at his 282nd birthday celebration for a sample of this meal (while supplies last). Following the breakfast sampler, visitors can mingle with costumed characters from George Washington’s world. This event is included in admission.

Cupid’s Undie Run
This Valentine’s Day weekend, put the hilarity in charity with hundreds of half-naked runners taking to the streets during Cupid’s Undie Run in celebration of their fundraising for the Children’s Tumor Foundation. Last year Cupid’s raised over $1.3 million to end neurofibromatosis (NF). Start a team, join a team, or just run solo and make some new friends!
Feb. 15 at the Pour House, 319 Pennsylvania Ave. SE. Party starts at noon with the run at 2 p.m. followed by more party until 4 p.m. Feel free to remain pants-less the entire time! Registration is $80 here.
Meet President Wilson
The President Woodrow Wilson House will be open on President’s Day to celebrate all of the great men who have led our country. Hear our 28th President’s insights on his time in office and the role of the president during guided tours through his private residence in Washington. Guided tours and photo opportunities will be available.
Feb. 17 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Woodrow Wilson House, 2340 S St. NW. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for students and members of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and free for children under 12 and Friends of Woodrow Wilson House.
New
Newport Jazz Festival Now 60
The legendary Newport Jazz Festival launched the careers of so many of the genre’s icons it’s hard to keep track — and the critically acclaimed touring shows draw rave reviews with each iteration. Now 60 celebrates both the great history of the Newport Jazz Festival and its role as discoverer and mentor of fresh new talent. Hear great jazz from Louis, Duke and Miles to Latin, Brazilian and more, featuring “one of the jazz world’s finest” clarinetist Anat Cohen.

Clothing swap
Reduce waste, swap clothes. Bring clothes you no longer want to Xchange’s second annual clothing swap. Clothes must still be in style, fashionable, clean and in good condition. Swap one piece you bring for one piece someone else brought. Left over clothing will be donated to Martha’s Table. There will be an open space where all the clothes will be placed and you can go through them and take anything you like. DJ ChooKy will be provide the music. There will Mellow Mushroom pizza loaded with fresh produce from local farms, snacks provided by Scratch DC and $3 local craft beer from Atlas Brew Works.
Feb. 19 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Mellow Mushroom, 2436 18th St. NW in Adams Morgan. Admission is FREE, but you must bring clothes to take clothes.
