Oz keeps top spot; Call comes in second

Oz: The Great and Powerful remained in first place last weekend, raking in $41.3 million during its second weekend (March 15, 2013), according to boxoffice.com. Disney’s 3D fantasy was down 48 percent from its debut last week, but is still the highest grossing domestic release so far this year.

The Call debuted in second place with $17.2 millon and stars Halle Berry as a 9-1-1 dispatcher and Abigail Breslin as a kidnap victim. It received 5 Heels from our reviewer. Read his review here.

Meanwhile, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone debuted in third place with $10.2 million. The PG-13 comedy starring Steve Carell and Jim Carrey marks yet another disappointing performance for Warner Bros. in early 2013. At the end of the day, star power and marketing weren’t enough to transfer Burt Wonderstone from a niche comedy into a comedy appealing to a wider audience base.
