5 DMV Eateries Make Open Table’s Top 100

Each year, reservation website/app OpenTable looks at insights from diner reviews to determine the top restaurants across the country. While some lists are decided by critics, OpenTable’s Top 100 is driven by diners and based on insights and reviews from verified OpenTable users. Five restaurants in the DMV made this year’s national list:

  • Caruso’s Grocery, 914 14th St. SE at The Roost and 11820 Trade St., North Bethesda at Pike & Rose.
  • dLeña, 476 K St. NW in Mt. Vernon Triangle.
  • Filomena Ristorante, 1063 Wisconsin Ave. NW in Georgetown.
  • Old Ebbitt Grill, 675 15th St. NW in downtown D.C.
  • L’Auberge Chez François, 332 Springvale Road, Great Falls.

Jack Rose Celebrates Prohibition Repeal on Thursday

The bar will celebrate with Prohibition-era cocktails, Champagne and food specials, live burlesque and a special $12.05 priced Jack Rose Single Barrel Happy Hour.

The free celebration will start with a special Jack Rose Single Barrel Hour from 5-7:30 p.m., featuring pours of the bar’s favorite house single barrels priced at $12.05 to commemorate Dec. 5.

Other drink specials available from 5-10 p.m., include $13 classic Prohibition-era cocktails and $50 bottles of featured Champagne.

There will also be food specials ranging from $3 Oysters Rockefeller, to a shareable, snackable “Prohibition Plate” of retro hors d’oeuvres such shrimp cocktail and clams casino.

Burlesque dancers will perform starting at 8 p.m., and the regular dinner menu will be available a la carte.

Diners are encouraged to dress in flapper dresses and swanky suits, donning their most Prohibition-era attire, for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate.

There is no admission fee, and it is open to the public, but table reservations are recommended. The bar will be open for walk-ins.
