How to Recreate Looks from the Met Gala
The Met Gala just happened last week, and stars went all out with their looks. The theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” so naturally this led to a lot of fantasy, heavenly or dark-spirited themes, to correspond with religion and art.
Some of the looks were amazing, yet are surprisingly super east to recreate. Maybe for maybe that summer wedding when you are allowed to amp up your eyeshadow glow, or for a summer ball when your routine nighttime makeup won’t do. We look to the stars for the latest trends, and even though sometimes they seem super wacky, it can be very easy to recreate them in a subtler way.
Below are some of my favorite looks from the stars at this year’s Met Gala and what products to use to recreate them yourself:
Bella Hadid
Bella Hadid looked like an eternal goddess wrapped in black latex, sweet but dangerous. Her eyes were what stole the show for me. She had a glittery, gold shadow that also was used like an eyeliner and lined the outside of her inner creases. This created the effect of making her eyes bigger and wider. She used Diorshow On Stage Liner in matte white, which retails for $30.50, to line her eyes and then a gold shadow on top.
Kate Bosworth
Kate Bosworth looked angelic with that child-like look with peachy pink cheekbones and doe-like eyes. To get this look, her makeup artists used Chantecaille’s Cheek Gelée in Happy, which sells for $44. Gelée is a product that goes on smooth like a gel and shines like a blush, but also has a high shimmer effect that makes your cheeks look fresh, flushed and pink cheeks like after a nice summer jog.
Blake Lively
Blake Lively had a very renaissance look to her outfit and makeup, but what was especially great about her look is that her makeup was actually a natural one that could easily be used for a perfect night out or a night at the ball. Her makeup artist hardened her features by contouring, but he contoured with L’Oréal Paris’ True Match Lumi Bronze It bronzer, which retails (retails for $14.99. It is a buildable, shimmer, bronzing powder. The buildable formula allows you to contour effectively as much as you want, but the bronzer in it still makes it look like a natural tan.
Born and raised in the DMV, Emma Blancovich has a big appreciation for discovering things to do around town, such as new restaurants to try and supporting the local music scene by attending live shows. During the week she is an editor for trade associations, but on the weekends you can find her hiking up trails with the latest fitness gadgets then getting ready for a night out using the latest beauty and health products.
