Keep Your Face from Smudging in the Heat

With the warmer temperatures now here, I remembered how much I hate when my makeup gets oily on my face because of the heat. The heat smudges my carefully applied eyeliner, and I always get the streaked-mascara-under-eye that looks like I have been crying. I love warm weather, but the smudging of makeup and my face getting oily was really getting to my last week.

I decided to remedy the mess on my face by looking into what products would keep this from happening all summer long.

I knew that I would need a setting spray and something to remove oil from my face throughout the day. I have heard of makeup setting sprays from makeup artists and always use it as a last step. I never took the time to notice at that point if I liked what it did to my makeup, but considering that my pictures turned out great for those special events, I was sold.

The setting spray used on me was Urban Decay’s All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray. This spray uses a patented technology that controls the temperature of your makeup to ensure that it will not get too hot and smudge. The good news? It allows your makeup to stay in play for 16 hours. No wonder I looked great in all those photos well into the night.

I used the spray last week on my makeup, and my eyeliner stayed in place from the morning until after dinner. I was also dining on a rooftop, so the heat was definitely testing my makeup. The spray works and is well worth the money. Think of how many makeup reapplications you are saving by just using a good quality makeup setting spray. This product is vegan and works with all skin types. In a 7-day study of this product, Urban Decay claimss that regardless of skin type, 88 percent of users said that the product was the one that made their makeup last the longest.

The other dilemma — an oily face. Clarins sent me a palette recently that is meant to be used to blur your pores and control shine without messing up your already applied makeup. The Pore Perfecting Matifying Kit with Blotting Papers compact can be taken in your purse and keeps your face looking matte and shine-free for the entire day and well into the night. It includes a white powder that can also be used to set your makeup, if you prefer not to use a spray. The blotting papers are small and can easily be disposed of. It is dermatologist tested and noncomedogenic.

These two products will make your summer nights more enjoyable when you are out and about. Do you have your goto products for keeping a matte face?
