Look Fabulous on the Fourth
The Independence Day weekend has arrived, and if you’re still looking for some last-minute ways to glam it up for the Fourth, take heart and keep reading as I share tips to help you create festive, patriotic looks with items that you may already have on hand.
Face
The color scheme is a given: red, white and blue. Smokey eyes are a perennial favorite, but use navy blue eye shadow for patriotic glamour that’s self-evident. Chanel’s Les 4 Ombres in Fascination 41 has a great white shade that’s perfect for our holiday color scheme. If you’re not a fan of the smokey eye, line your eyes with blue, add white shadow and finish with blue mascara.
Try a sheer cherry red lip for a pop of color that’s not overwhelming. My new favorite is 100% Pure Vitamint Lip Creamstick in Cherry Tomato. This color goes on smoothly and keeps your lips well moisturized throughout the fireworks.
To smooth out your complexion try a sheer, tinted moisturizer that also offers SPF, like Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20, but don’t forget your broad-brimmed hat and shades! Add a touch of bronzer with Nars Matte Multiple in Portofino.
Nails
I love matte white nails in the summer, so I always have Zoya Snow White on hand.
Another great option is to use Mischo Beauty Luxury Lacquer in Diana, Coco and #NYFW to create stars and stripes on your fingertips.
Hair
One of the best festive summer looks that’s casual enough for a July 4th poolside or outdoor party is the milkmaid braid. Create this ‘do by first braiding your hair into pigtails. Next, wrap each pigtail across your head, securing each with bobby pins along the length of the braid. Set with a spritz of hairspray and of course, feel free to add any red, white, and blue adornments to the braids.
