Red Sprinkle Pop Up Beauty Lounge

Last Thursday evening I had the pleasure of attending Red Sprinkle’s Third Annual Pop Up Beauty Lounge at the Release Salon. The event featured beauty treatments such as mini manicures from Sassy Nail Spa, makeup and eyelash applications, eyebrow waxes and hair consultations.

After getting my nails done (courtesy of Sassy Nail Spa), I learned about the all-natural products on display by Joyful Bath Co., a Bethesda based purveyor of exquisite handmade botanical soaps and bath salts. Free from synthetic fragrances, sulfates, dyes or preservatives, these locally-made products are composed of mineral-rich salts from the Dead Sea, olive, palm and coconut oils enriched with honey, buttermilk, ginger root, green tea and other botanicals. I was intrigued by their Mellow Yellow soap that contains antibacterial mustard seed, which is great for gently detoxifying pores and treating problem skin. Their soaps, I must say, all smelled fantastic.

Next, my interest was thoroughly piqued by the products on the It Works table — the body contouring wrap in particular. According to the product literature, this wrap be can used from the neck down to tone, firm and smooth the skin. The brochure showed some images of, shall we say, less-than-taut bellies before and after the treatment with a marked improvement in the latter, of course. I have added this on my list of products to try, thinking that I will limit its use to maintaining the firmness of my neck, although a tummy wrap might be required after Thanksgiving!

The proceeds of this fabulous event will go to Red Sprinkle’s fashion camp scholarship fund, which benefits young people pursuing secondary education in the fashion industry. Some of the young ladies participating in the company’s popular after-school program, designed to educate area youngsters in careers in fashion, showed up just in time to receive manicures.
