Bubbly and Blow-Outs at Blo Dupont
This past Tuesday, Blo Dupont hosted a delightful soiree where guests sipped champagne, nibbled on hors d’oeuvres and of course, had their hair blow-dried and coiffed.
Relatively new to D.C., Blo Dupont opened its doors this past March and is doing a brisk business. It is the second blow dry bar in Washington, D.C.. These no-cut, no-color salons specialize in hair styling only: perfect blowouts and chic up-dos. As owner Maha Sharma told me, Blo was founded in 2007 and now has 43 locations worldwide. By providing a superb wash, dry and blowout in a luxurious environment, their services complement the work of your regular hairstylist — this point is underscored by the pink Blo logo emblazoned across the salon wall with the reassuring words “You’re not cheating on your hairdresser.”
The basic blowout is $40 (“Wash. Blow. Go”), and one can select from a menu of seven styles, including glamorous red-carpet styles (“Holly Would”), perfectly professional coifs (“Executive Sweet”) and fashion-forward fishtail braids. Don’t see the ‘do you want? No problem! Go for the up do a la Carte and bring in an image of the style you desire. If you need extra pampering, deep conditioning treatments, extensions or scalp massages are available for an additional charge. Blo also offers “Blo on the Go,” where stylists make house calls for $75. If you’re planning on being perfectly coiffed for an early morning work presentation, you’ll be overjoyed to learn that the blow-dry bar opens at 7 a.m.
Blo Dupont is located at 2126 P St. NW.
