Cruises

For a top-notch date, take him or her on an Odyssey or Spirit cruise out of the Southwest Waterfront. On the Odyssey Cruise, enjoy a three-course dinner, open bar and a live band. Hit the dance floor with your partner and take advantage of the unobstructed view of Washington, D.C. and the fireworks display. The Spirit Cruise offers a similar deal except instead of a three-course dinner, the cruise offers a buffet. You can also show off your moves with DJ entertainment.

Rooftop Lounges

Another venue with fantastic views is the W Hotel. The W’s P.O.V. Roof Terrace serves up small plates and handcrafted cocktails. Located at F and 14th Streets NW, P.O.V.’s views are phenomenal. Facing the White House, you and your partner can enjoy the fireworks while hanging out in one of D.C.’s most notable lounges.

Georgetown’s waterfront is another spectacular location for fireworks viewing. Check out The Observatory, a rooftop lounge within The Graham. The Observatory has a very luxurious feel sure to please even the pickiest of dates. Premium bottle service and bar packages are available. Small plates are available from the hotel’s A.G.B. Restaurant. Keep in mind that this rooftop is not a smoke-free zone. It is known to have some cigar smokers on the rooftop. Although the drinks are pricey, the views and atmosphere are good incentives to visit The Observatory for Independence Day.

Nationals Game

Finally, if you want to celebrate the Fourth of July the good ol’ American way, catch a Nats game with your sweetie. Pair the game with a cold beer, half-smoke and a round of Take Me Out to the Ball Game and you are sure to have a wonderful date. The Nationals will be playing the Chicago Cubs on July 4 at 11:05 a.m.

Washington, D.C. can be a little crazy for Independence Day. Between all the tourists and traffic jams, it can sometimes be hard to remember that the District is one of the most exciting places to be for the Fourth of July. Make the day even more special by taking your significant other on a romantic date, fireworks included.
