Fabulous Cocktails, Shopping and Beauty
The cold, drizzly spring evening didn’t keep Washington’s fashionistas and beauty-product aficionados from thronging to Style and Image Network’s 2014 Beauty Night Out held on Apr. 29 at the Long View Gallery, where they enjoyed fabulous cocktails, indulged in beauty treatments and shopped the night away.
Beauty treatments included massages by Nicole Jefferson of Caressence. One of my early arriving friends experienced an excellent back massage while she waited for me to show up. Caressence also offered reflexology, and facial, neck and shoulder massages.
Attendees were able to learn new beauty tips and master spring’s hottest makeup trends at Motives by Lauren Ridinger. In addition to giving makeovers, Motive’s makeup artists demonstrated the brand’s special custom-blended foundation. Using a combination of pigments, a foundation that matches your skin tone exactly can be created in either a liquid or powder finish. The product is further customized by adding moisturizers for dry skin or oil-absorbers for oily/combination complexions. This appears to be the perfect product for those who have trouble finding the right match in foundation.
I personally enjoyed Shea Terra’s products, several of which I’ve reviewed before. On a quest for brightening products, I was impressed by the texture of their Argan, Zafron & Camel’s Milk Brightening Lait Crème. As its name implies, this cream is made with saffron, one of the most expensive spices in the world and camel’s milk. Saffron is antibacterial and has been treasured for both cooking and its unique skin-brightening properties. Super nourishing camel’s milk contains lactic acid, which also breaks down uneven skin pigmentation and brightens the complexion. The charming, friendly ladies at Shea Terra generously handed out samples and patiently answered my friends’ and my questions regarding their products.
Although I generally find sweet, fruity drinks a bit too cloying for my palate, I did like sipping the apricot cocktail made with Foudre Vodka — maybe it’s just the lightning bolt shaped bottle that I found so appealing.
Other vendors included jewelry by Stella and Dot and Stylogy, among others. I leisurely browsed the fashion offerings and signed up for several drawings. If you love beauty and fashion, you won’t want to miss the next Beauty Night Out.
