Winter Waterfront Fun
The Washington Harbour’s ice rink circles some of Georgetown’s best restaurants. Here are some seeds to put into your stocking for a date night this holiday season.
On ice
The ice rink at the Georgetown waterfront is the biggest outdoor skating space in the District. For $10 skaters can skate the day through while catching glimpses of the Potomac, Kennedy Center, Key Bridge and the spires of Georgetown. Hold hands and glide with your sugarplum fairy or nutcracker to a slow jam during Rock ‘N Skate on Saturday Nights. Of age skaters can refresh with a drink at the rink-side bars and kids will enjoy Skate with Santa (Dec. 21).
On the menu
A few hours of skating makes for an empty stomach. Fortunately, skaters can make the transition to dinner as soon as they step off the ice. The Washington Harbour features some of the best food in the area. Farmers, Fishers and Bakers has an inventive interior of recycled and reclaimed materials and a menu of locally sourced, farm-raised food. Visit Tony and Joe’s for first-rate seafood and Sequoia for American cuisine and floor to ceiling windows with unbeatable views of the Potomac.
Before the holiday rush take some time to take in the waterfront air with a skate around the rink!
