Fun Couples Costumes
Boo! Halloween is here! If this fun holiday snuck up on you but you are still looking to ghoul it up with your guy or gal, it is not too late.
There are many great couples’ costumes that are quick and easy to put together. There are so many creative costume ideas that use items that you may already have in your closet. These ideas can help you save some cash and be seen and remembered at any Halloween party or event you may be attending tonight.
Johnny and June Cash
Johnny and June made an adorable couple. Mimic their cuteness by dressing up as them for Halloween. For Johnny’s costume, put together an all-black outfit for him. If one of you has a guitar, that is wonderful. Bring your guitar along to add a fun touch. If not, you can make a homemade guitar using a shoe box.
For her, use any full-skirted, 50s inspired dress. You can add a slip underneath or even a skirt or two for extra volume. Be sure to curl your hair and add some volume for that country rock look. With some nice vintage pumps and red lipstick, you should be good to go.
Be a nerd
Grab your suspenders, high-waisted plaid pants, large rimmed glasses and put them all together, and you end up with an awesome nerd costume.
Girly nerds can wear fun pleated skirts and lopsided pigtails. If you are trying to stay away from the “sexy school girl” look, wear some high-waisted pants and a button up shirt with a sweater vest or baggy cardigan.
Guy nerds can wear high-waisted plaid or khaki pants, a too-tight button up shirt and a bow tie that does not match the rest of the outfit.
Make sure you both tuck in those button-up shirts! That’s the key to a successful nerd costume. To add a touch of humor, put white masking tape around the bridge of your glasses.
Gatsby and Daisy
Dress up as Gatsby and Daisy from The Great Gatsby. This is a great costume for a couple seeking something sophisticated and fun. As seen on Classy Girls Wear Pearls, he looks handsome in a well-tailored suit and dress shoes. Be sure to add a glass of scotch (or apple cider if you prefer) for that authentic touch.
She can dress up in a shift dress or other Roaring 20s inspired dress. If you have a short dress with thin straps and ruffles going all the way down, that will work, too. Just be sure that the dress features straight lines. An A-line or other shape will not give off the 20s vibe you need to achieve for this costume.
The key with this costume are her accessories. A rhinestone or feathered headband strategically placed immediately gives the illusion of a 20s outfit. Throw in some simple pumps and pearls and your outfit will be the hit of the party.
Juno and Paulie Bleaker
Juno and Paulie are a hit at any party. The ultimate adorable duo are easy to mimic and make for a very affordable costume. Juno has several outfits in the movie all of which are very doable. The easiest outfit is the one shown in the picture. Grab your most comfortable pair of jeans, an over-sized plaid shirt and layer that over a t-shirt and zip-up hoodie. Put your hair in a ponytail and a salad bowl underneath your shirt to simulate a pregnant belly. It will be even more obvious who you are trying to be if you carry around a jug of Sunny Delight.
Paulie Bleaker is most recognized in his running uniform. A maroon t-shirt, yellow shorts and a sweatband are essential. Pair this with some long tube socks and running sneakers, and you should be ready to hit the Halloween treats.
Bandits
Steal the night away in a bandits costume. Although a pretty straight-forward costume, there is a good chance you will be the only two bandits at your Halloween celebration.
With this costume, you can both wear the same exact outfit. Be criminal masterminds in matching black pants and white and black striped shirts. Striped shirts are very trendy this fall and much safer than wearing a completely black outfit when going out at night.
To make the mask, you can take a cloth headband and cut holes for the eyes. You can also grab any old brown cloth or paper bag and write big money symbols on each one. Don’t forget the gloves! You wouldn’t want to be “caught” at any party through your fingerprints.
The list could go on and on. There are so many great costumes that you can put together with little time and a small budget. Check your closet and look for some every day outfits that could be turned into spooky Halloween costumes. So put your costume together and haunt the night away with your significant other.
