Fashion: It’s Your First Impression
About a week ago, I went to the fabulous movie screening of Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s, presented by Ashley Gaga and The Pink Dollhouse. For fashion lovers, it’s definitely a must see! While there I was interviewed by Erin, of Bag Ladies Radio and asked a great question – how did I transition from studying fashion to writing about relationships.
I think two pair perfectly. Fashion has a lot to do with how you want to present yourself to others. It’s one of the major ways you create your first impressions. When it comes to dating, first impressions mean a lot – for some they mean everything. I’m no the only one who thinks so.
For example, I once met a man wearing a beautifully tailored navy blue suit on the Hill. When we met up a week later at 18th Street Lounge he was wearing a crème cable knit sweater and a pair of jeans. It looked liked he’d loved them for years.
In two quick instances I gathered a lot of information about him. First, he appreciated fashion – his suit was perfection. I assumed he subscribed to GQ (he did). But in comparison to the second time I saw him, and in conjunction with the place he chose to meet, I assume he wasn’t a play hard, work hard type of guy. Instead he was a work hard, chill when he’s off type (he was).
This is also true for a date I had when the guy showed up wearing dad jeans. I’ll let you guess how that went.
